Monk
Base Class: Monk

Most people consider it weird that a monk, a person who has dedicated their entire life into perfecting the tranquility of their soul and the stillness of their body, would dance eratically and with fervor in battle, a situation that requires absolute clarity and cool-headedness. Yet, every person who has ever dedicated even a small part of their life in dancing knows that the focus required to perform a dance is enormous. The monks that follow the way of the dervish consider dancing their very own form of praying. They have studied the mythos of their guardian deity almost to a fault and when they dance they choose to depict a part of that mythos through their dancing performance.

Dancing Spectacle

The monk becomes an expert in the mythos of their own deity. Religion checks on their chosen deity are rolled with advantage.

The monk has mastered the art of dancing as a form of praying. Performance checks related to dancing use the wisdom modifier instead of charisma.

Dancing blade

The monk chooses a melee weapon type that he uses during their dance. They gain proficiency with that weapon type. Additionally, they can choose a fighting style from the fighter list, except for archery, interception and protection. The chosen weapon type becomes a monk weapon and attacks with it are considered unarmed attacks.

Trance

While wielding their chosen weapon for dancing, the monk enters a semi-conscious state where their entire mind is focused on their dancing. By spending a ki point the monk makes a performance check. Depending on the roll the monk gains a bonus to all attack rolls and movement. Additionally, the monk can move 5 feet every time they deal damage in melee, in any direction. This movement depletes their total movement but it does not provoke attacks of opportunity. This state lasts for one minute and during this time the monk cannot concentrate on a spell and they gain advantage on dexterity saving throws and mind-controlling effects. This state ends if the monk falls unconscious, dies or they choose to end it willingly.

Performance roll results.

<8: No bonuses. 8-14: +1 to attack rolls, +5 to movement.

15-21: +2 to attack rolls, +10 to movement.

22-27: +3 to attack rolls, +15 to movement.

>28: +5 to attack rolls, +30 to movement.

Depiction of victory

The monk's combat trance takes a more offensive approach. The monk's dance during trance depicts a part of his god's mythos about some martial or other kind of victory. The dance becomes more aggressive. When the monk performs an attack on a turn they may choose to expend 20ft of their remaining movement to perform an extra attack with either hand.

Depiction of Salvation

The monk's dancing takes inspiration from the stories of benevolence tied to their deity.. When entering trance, the monk's bonus on their attack rolls thanks to the performance check is also applied to their AC. When an ally within 15ft is hit by a melee attack, the monk may spend a ki point to rush to the ally and protect them. The ally gains the same bonus to AC as the monk for the remainder of the turn.

Captivation

When the monk enters the trance, all enemies within 30 feet that can see them must make a charisma saving throw against the monk's performance check. If they fail the saving throw they have disadvantage on all attack rolls that target anyone other than the monk and they also have disadvantage on all saving throws for one round.
