Monk
Base Class: Monk

A monk from a faraway land once sought a perfectly calm state of mind and learned to meditate without ever having to wake up again. He had no need for sleep anymore in this trance-like state since he practically slept day and night. Exploring his state of constant sleep, he learned to control his body and perceive his surroundings with his Ki while still meditating. After some time, he understood the concept of a completely calm Ki state and how to utilize it. It is told that only the calmest minds can achieve this way of a monk.

Vow of Meditation

When achieving this subclass at Level 3, you begin to constantly meditate while still being able to move and perceive like normal.

  • Spells and other abilities that would send you to sleep or affect you negatively during sleep have no effect on you since you already sleep all day in perfect calmness.
  • Constant Calm: Once per day (out of combat), you can instantly receive the effect of a short rest and gain 1d2 of Ki points back.
  • If you are knocked prone, other creatures have no advantage when hitting you, since you are as agile in a sleeping position as in a standing one.

Sleeping Strike

At 6th level, you become even calmer and begin to understand how to put your knowledge of calm Ki to use on other targets than yourself.

  • Sleeping Strike: A variation of the stunning strike only this monk subclass can use. When you hit another creature with a melee weapon attack, you can spend 1 ki point to attempt a sleeping strike. The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be sent to sleep.
  • You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened.

Dream Catcher

At 11th level, you develop the ability to predict your enemy‘s next move by dreaming of it.

  • Dream Catcher: Once per round, if a creature attacks you, you can spend 1 Ki point to dodge the attack. If the creature misses with a melee attack because of this ability, you can spend 1 additional Ki point to let them make a strength save. If it fails, disarm it. If the creature doesn´t wield a weapon, it is instead knocked prone.
  • The sleep you put a creature in is deeper than normal sleep. Creatures that have been put to sleep by your sleeping strike only awaken again after three attempts of waking them up, be it an attack against that target or slapping it awake.

Bad Awakening

At 17th level, you have fully learned how to manipulate the calm state of Ki and also how to utterly disturb it.

  • Bad Awakening: This technique only works on a sleeping target. You can spend 2 Ki points to wake up the target with a devastating blow that disturbs its Ki to the very core. The target takes 12d10 necrotic damage.
