Base Class: Wizard
While many skillfully weave weapon and spell, few practitioners of magic combine the two as literally as the Spellblades.
Spellblades transform spells into weapons, using them to channel and enhance offensive magic while skillfully defending themselves from hostile attacks.
As the grow in experience, Spellblades learn to enhance their reflexes with magic and may even form the mightiest of spells into weapons to slay the most challenging foes.
Forge Spellblade
2nd-level Spellblade feature
You learn three damage-dealing Cantrips from the Wizard list. You gain a +1 to Weapon Attack Rolls and Spell Attack Rolls.
Forge Spellblade. At the end of a Long Rest, you may forge damage-dealing cantrips you know into Spellblades. You may create a number of Spellblades equal to 1 + your Proficiency Bonus.
A Spellblade is a light melee weapon with a 5 foot reach you are Proficient with, which with you make Weapon Attacks using your Intelligence modifier. It deals damage equal to the Cantrip used to create it, plus your Intelligence modifier. A target damaged by a Spellblade attack is affected by any secondary effects of the source Cantrip, as if it had been hit or failed a Saving Throw.
You may use a Spellblade as a spellcasting focus. When you deal damage with a spell cast this way, you add damage of the Spellblade Cantrip's type equal to your Intelligence modifier to the spell's damage roll.
Detonate Spelblade. You can detonate a Spellblade, discharging all of its energy in one fell swoop. When you would take a melee attack with a Spellblade, you may instead destroy the Spellblade. When you do so, choose one of the following shapes: a 20 foot line, a 10 foot Cone, or a 5 foot sphere. Make a single attack roll against all foes in the selected Shape and deal damage to those who are hit as if they were hit with the detonated Spellblade. When you deal damage with Greater Spellblade, you apply the effects of the source spell to that target as if it had been hit with a Spell Attack of failed Saving Throw against that spell. You may do so a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, after which the Greater Spellblade vanishes. If the effect caused by the source spell requires concentration, it instead lasts until the end of your next turn.
When your Greater Spellblade vanishes, you regain the spell slot used to create it.
