Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Monks built to follow the Way of Destructive Force are designed to be engines of combat. They utilize their ki-powered bodies for offensive prowess, at the sake of a lacking defense. These constructed warriors make for powerful offensive pieces in armies, and for staunch allies that would gladly give up their lives for the sake of their companions. Groups of these robot warriors are called factories.

While these dealers of death can seem cold to most, some insist that they must have a reason to wreak destruction. Some self-sufficient factories only sow destruction to those that would do the same to them, or the innocent that they may be sworn to protect while others simply destroy as they see fit, if only to fulfill their purpose.

Destructive Protocol

At 3rd level, your destructive weapons have been primed and readied for activation. As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point to activate your destructive weapons.

For 1 minute, these weapons extend from your arms, replacing your hands. You determine the weapons' appearance, and they deactivate early if you are incapacitated or die.

While the destructive weapons are active, you gain the following benefits and drawbacks:

  • You can use your destructive weapons to make unarmed strikes.
  • Your destructive weapons deal extra damage to the target equal to one of your Martial Arts die.
  • The unarmed strikes you make with your destructive weapons can be bludgeoning, piercing or slashing, determined when you take the bonus action.
  • You take a -3 penalty to your AC.

Convert Energy

At 6th level, your protocols have opened up further, allowing you to freely utilize the ki that powers through you, as you see fit.

Transfer Vitals to DestructionAs a bonus action, you may damage yourself to regain ki points. The amount of d8s you decide to roll to damage yourself decides the amount of ki you receive in return. For example, if you roll 3d8, you gain 3 ki points. You may never attempt to roll a number that has a chance of dropping you to 0 hit points.

Transfer Destruction to Defense. As a reaction to getting hit by an attack, you can spend ki points to raise your AC by an amount equal to the amount of ki you spend on the reaction. For example, if you spend 4 ki points, your AC raises by 4. This bonus affects the triggering attack, and lasts until the start of your next turn.

Technical Evolution

At 11th level, your protocols have begun to evolve and adapt to the harsh battles you've been through. You gain the following benefits:

Rocket Punch. As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point to make an unarmed strike with a range of 80 feet.

Destructive Spin. As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point to make every creature with 5 feet of you make a Dexterity saving throw or take slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning damage equal to two rolls of your Martial Arts die.

Drastic Measures

At 17th level, you have an intimate understanding of destruction. You know how to wield it as an art form, and even how to use your own destruction as a weapon.

Overclock. As a bonus action, or as part of the bonus action you take to activate Destructive Protocol, you can spend 5 ki points to overclock your destructive weapons for 10 minutes, maximizing their potential, at a great risk to yourself. While overclocked, you gain the following benefits and drawbacks:

  • Your destructive weapons now deal extra damage equal to two of your Martial Arts die.
  • When a creature is damaged by your destructive weapons, they must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw, or be frightened of you until your Destructive Protocol ends.
  • You take a -5 penalty to your AC (This does not stack with the AC penalty from Destructive Protocol).

Self-Destruct Sequence. As an action, you can expend all of your remaining ki points to cause an explosion, centered on you. The explosion fills a 30 ft. radius forcing each creature to make a Dexterity saving throw. A target takes force damage equal to 30 x the amount of ki points used, of half as much on a successful one. You automatically fail this check.
