Monk
Base Class: Monk

Learned from a master of this Way or simply gleaned from the observation of natural pack creatures (humans and humanoids nonexempt), the Way of the Wolf grants you and your allies advantages over your enemies within an Aura of Ki. At third level, gain the Aura of Ki that acts as the foundation of your abilities for your allies and the natural Pack Tactics of a wolf. At sixth level, gain the Form of the Beast and enhance your own abilities based on either a bestial nature or the mere presence of allies in your vicinity. At eleventh level, gain Improved Pack Tactics that empower your allies to act-in-kind when you expend Ki points. Finally, gain Pack Tactics Mastery at seventeenth level, allowing allies in your Aura to heal one another, heal themselves, or gain advantage over your enemies.

Aura of Ki

At third level, your Ki begins to extend beyond the limits of your body to your allies, empowering them. Allies in this Aura may gain benefits when you expend Ki points, take specific actions, or gain magical assistance. At third level, your Aura has a radius of 5ft, extending to 10ft at 10th level, 15ft at 15th level, and 20ft at 20th level. Also at third level, when you are magically healed, you may choose to immediately, as a free action, transfer any amount of the total HP you have gained to an ally within your Aura. The Aura of Ki persists as long as you are alive, even if you are Unconscious.

Pack Tactics

At third level, you and your allies have advantage on Attack rolls against a target if at least one ally is within 5ft of that target and the ally is not Incapacitated.

Form of the Beast

At sixth level, you gain two options from the following list, taking on traits of pack animals or wolves and gaining their abilities. At 11th, you may have three options, at 17th, four options. Each time you take a level in this class, one option may be exchanged for another not exceeding your allotted total.

Battle Howl

A primal battle cry. Once per short or long rest, you may use an Action to inspire your allies in battle. Any creature you choose in 60 feet who can hear you gains advantage on all d20 checks until the start of your next turn.

Bite

You grow the canine fangs of a wolf. As an option, you may use your new fangs to make an Unarmed Strike instead of a standard Unarmed Strike during an Attack action, Flurry of Blows, or any other normal Unarmed Strike and gain the following benefits and changes to that attack: The damage type becomes Piercing, any benefits of the Monk Martial Arts feature remains, and you may additionally expend one Ki point to attempt to lock your jaw and Grapple the target. The target must succeed in a Dexterity or Strength Saving Throw against your Ki DC when you attempt to Grapple them this way.

Claw

You grow the terrifying claws of a wolf. Your Unarmed Strikes may optionally deal Slashing or Bludgeoning damage, this decision must be made before the damage dice are rolled and may be chosen after knowing if an attack successfully hits a target.

Feral Strike

You gain the benefits of the Feature Reckless Attack: You can throw aside all concern for defense to attack with fierce desperation. When you make your first attack on your turn, you can decide to attack recklessly. Doing so gives you Advantage on monk weapon attack rolls during this turn; all attack rolls against you have Advantage until your next turn.

Instill Fear

When an enemy is within your Aura of Ki, you may as an Action attempt to Frighten them. This may only target one creature who must make a Wisdom saving throw against your Ki DC. Additionally, this DC receives +1 for every ally that is also in your Aura of Ki when you take this Action.

Keen Hearing and Smell

You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Natural Hunter

You gain proficiency in Wisdom (Survival). If you already have proficiency, your proficiency score for this Skill is doubled.

Pack Leader

When an ally is within your Aura of Ki, you can choose to use their Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma modifier for any appropriate Skill checks instead of using your own, their proficiency for the Skill does not transfer to you, your proficiency applies as it usually would.

Pack Prowess

While attempting Charisma (Intimidation) checks, your allies can bolster your results without using any Actions (such as the Help action). When making this Skill check, expend one Ki point to add +1 for every ally in your Aura to no limit. As an option, your allies may choose to be excluded from this if they disagree with your words or actions, their decision does not return the expended Ki point and adding another ally does not require more Ki points.

Pack Sentinel

Your care for your pack inspires you to be more aware of your surroundings. When you are within 10 feet of two or more allies, your Passive Perception temporarily increases by the number of allies in that range (two allies = +2, five allies = +5), possibly preventing you and your allies from becoming Surprised by enemies. These benefits are maintained while you and your allies are Unconscious, such as when you are sleeping or keeping watch.

Resilient Hide

The Form of the Beast alters your body, while your Monk Unarmored Defense Feature is in use, you gain +1 to AC. This does not hinder your Unarmored Movement or Unarmored Defense Monk features.

Silent Predator

You gain the ability to Hide as a Bonus Action on your turn.

Improved Pack Tactics

At 11th level, using Ki abilities causes you and your allies in your Aura of Ki to gain benefits or abilities related to your actions. Choose three options below with the opportunity to trade one option for another when you gain a level in this class, not exceeding three at any time.

Brutal Modeling

Your Stunning Strike is instructive to your nearby allies. Any allies in your Aura of Ki who can observe a successful Stunning Strike you make at least once gain the ability to attempt a Stunning Strike against a similar creature for the next minute. To attempt their own Stunning Strike, your allies must make an Unarmed Attack against a creature that shares significant similarities to your initial target (same species, similarly armored, in addition to any other reasonable caveats at the DM's discretion). The target of your allies' attempted Stunning Strikes must make a Saving Throw as if they were being attacked by you, using your Ki DC.

Feral Phalanx

Your Patient Defense extends to protect your nearby allies. Any allies in your Aura of Ki may, when you take this Bonus Action, gain +3 to their AC until your Dodge is triggered or until the beginning of your next turn. Allies who do not meet the criteria for taking the Dodge Action (Unconscious, Restrained, etc) do not gain this benefit.

Inspiring Calm

Your Stillness of Mind Action helps your allies shake off similar effects. Any ally in your Aura of Ki who are affected by the same Charm or Frighten effect (with the same source) who can observe you when you take this Action may immediately make another Saving Throw against their own Condition as a free action. The DC of the effect is not altered.

Pack Attack

Your Flurry of Blows attacks empower your nearby allies. Any allies within your Aura of Ki who can perceive your Flurry of Blows Attacks may, as a Reaction, immediately make a melee or ranged weapon attack with a weapon they are currently holding against any creature in their range. Allies who do not meet the criteria for the Attack Action (Unconscious, Restrained, etc) do not gain this benefit.

Perfect Pack

When you gain the Perfect Self feature, its effects grow in strength when you are surrounded by allies. When this effect is triggered, you gain an additional Ki point for every ally in your Aura of Ki. For example: two allies in your Aura results in restoration of 6 Ki points when rolling Initiative.

Precious Pack

Your Diamond Soul allows you to grant mercy to your allies. When you gain the Diamond Soul feature in the Monk class, you may expend one Ki point as a Reaction to allow an ally in your Aura of Ki to reroll a failed Saving Throw.

Retreat

Your Step of the Wind also lifts the feet of your allies. Any allies in your Aura of Ki at the beginning of your movement when you take the Step of the Wind Bonus Action may immediately use their Reaction to move up to half their Speed. These allies must move in the same direction (or otherwise seek the same goal) as you, allies who Dash with you are still subject to Opportunity Attacks. Allies who are unable to move do not gain this benefit.

Shared Hide

Your Empty Body extends to your allies. When you gain the Empty Body feature, you may expend four Ki points to turn one willing creature invisible for one minute by touching them. To remain invisible, this creature must remain within your Aura of Ki. They also gain the benefits of this feature that you normally would: they are resistant to all damage except force damage for the duration. The only limit to the number of creatures you may affect with this feature is the number of Ki points you have. This benefit is not available for the Astral Projection facet of the Empty Body Feature.

Pack Tactics Mastery

At 17th level, your allies gain benefits for being in your Aura of Ki regardless of your actions.

  • Any ally in your Aura who receives magical healing may choose to transfer any amount of the total HP gained to any other creature in the Aura you consider an ally.
  • Any ally in your Aura gains the benefits of your Pack Tactics against a creature targeted by you on your previous turn.
  • Any ally entering your Aura on their turn immediately gains temporary Hit Points equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die but may only gain these benefits once per turn. There are no effects for allies who only begin their turn in your Aura.
