Base Class: Barbarian
The core of playing a Brawler is unpredictability, and using the environment as your weapon. Many Brawlers choose not to use a melee weapon, and when they do they prefer Simple Weapons.
Brawler's Improvisation
Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you hone your senses to finding makeshift weapons in the midst of a fight. You gain proficiency with Improvised Weapons, and can pick up an object to use as an Improvised Weapon as a bonus action. In addition, your unarmed and improvised melee weapon attacks deal 1d4 + your Strength Modifier damage. This damage increases to 1d6 at 5th level, 1d8 at 11th level, and 1d10 at 17th level.
Certain improvised weapons could be considered for weapon properties. At the DMs discretion, certain improvised weapons may have the heavy or two-handed property. These weapons will do one damage dice higher than a normal improvised weapon (for example, at level 6 you would deal 1d6 damage with your improvised weapon, but swinging a medium-sized table may be considered two-handed by the DM, and thus deal 1d8 damage instead), up to a 1d12 for damage.
The damage types for these attacks will be up to DM discretion, however the damage types are limited to slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning. For example, a shard of glass may be deal piercing or slashing damage instead of the general bludgeoning damage, however a torch will only do bludgeoning - not fire damage.
Uncanny Fists
Starting at 6th level, your unarmed and improvised weapons are considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances.
Pavement Kiss
At 6th level, you gain a knack for using the ground itself as a weapon against your foes. While raging, you can add your Rage damage bonus to your Grapple check. In addition, when you use your Action to grapple a creature, you may use a bonus action to Shove that creature prone. When you successfully Shove a creature prone, that creature takes bludgeoning damage equal to your improvised weapon damage
Bouncer's Toss
At 10th level, you become capable of using not only your own body as a weapon, but other bodies. When grappling a creature, you can use the Shove action to throw that creature on a successful Strength (Athletics) check. The distance you throw the creature is a number of feet equal to 5 x your Strength modifier. The creature takes damage equal to your improvised weapon damage, in addition to falling damage for the distance they were thrown. If the thrown creature hits an object or other creature when being thrown, that object or other creature takes half the damage dealt to the thrown creature.
Brawler's Last Stand
Starting at 14th level, your unbending will for carnage makes it harder for you to go down in a fight. When you benefit from your Relentless Rage feature, you can use your reaction to attack each creature of your choice within melee range. You can only use this reaction when you succeed on your Relentless Rage saving throw.
In addition, while raging, when you hit a target with an unarmed or improvised melee weapon attack, you can Shove that enemy back as per the Bouncer's Toss feature. You can only use this feature once per enemy per turn.
Love it
Hey, I'm trying to homebrew an exact copy of this subclass because I want to use it in my campaign but can't add it to my collection without a subscription. Please could you help me because I'm not sure how to make it all work on the character sheet. I don't know how to do the technical stuff.
Honestly most of these features should just be improvised weapon rules which base rules are severely lacking. Also I'm pretty sure RAW lit torches do improvised weapon dmg+ 1 fire dmg
This subclass is cool as all hell, but the fact that it's just called "Brawler" and not "Path of the Brawler" like every other barbarian subclass makes me take psychic damage.
I love how this just takes Tavern Brawler and integrates it into the class features.
