Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Arcane Champions are fighters whose ties to ancient magics have laid dormant until much later in life than other spellcasters. However, with their existing mastery over martial combat, their blossoming power does nothing but improve their prowess. They train equally in martial technique and mastery over their newfound magical talents, learning to blend the two seamlessly into powerful new combat styles.

Spellcasting

3rd-Level Arcane Champion feature

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain access to the ability to cast spells from innate magics. Charisma is your spellcasting ability, and you can gain spells from the Sorcerer or Warlock spell list. Each time you gain a level, you can choose to replace one of your known spells with another sorcerer or warlock spell of a level you can cast.

Arcane Talents

3rd-Level Arcane Champion feature

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Intelligence (Arcana) skill from your newfound gifts. Further, you select an Arcane Talent option at 3rd level, and an additional option at 8th, 13th, and 18th level, each talent augmenting your ability to employ your newly awakened magic into your combat arts.

Arcane Warfare

7th-Level Arcane Champion feature

By 7th level, your ability to mix martial and magical combat has enabled you to more freely interchange them in the heat of battle. Any time you take the attack action, you can cast a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action or 1 bonus action in place of one of your attacks.

Instinctive Casting

10th-Level Arcane Champion feature

Starting at 10th level, you have become adept at utilizing spells and weapons in equal measure, and some spells have become near effortless for you to cast in their simplest forms. Select one 1st level Sorcerer or Warlock spell. You can cast this spell a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier as a 1st level spell without consuming a spell slot or needing material components. You can cast this spell at higher levels by consuming additional uses of it, each use consumed increasing the spell level it is cast at by 1. You select an additional 1st level sorcerer or warlock spell at 12th, 14th, 16th, 18th, and 20th level, each chosen spell gaining the same benefits.

Improved Arcane Warfare

15th-Level Arcane Champion feature

By 15th level, you have integrated your magics so thoroughly into your fighting style that you can integrate more advanced magics into your attacks. Any time you take the attack action, you can cast a cantrip, 1st level spell, or 2nd level spell in place of one of your attacks.

Unlocked Potential

18th-Level Arcane Champion feature

By 18th level, your spellcasting has reached its upper limits as one who developed their powers as a secondary expression. Select a 2nd level spell when you gain this feature. At 19th level, choose another 2nd level spell. At 20th level, choose a 3rd level spell. You can cast each spell chosen for this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier without expending a spell slot or needing material components. You may cast these spells at higher levels by expending multiple uses of each spell. This can allow you to cast these spells above 4th level, to a maximum of 6th level.

Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, latent magical powers within you awaken and you gain access to the ability to cast spells in addition to the combat training you have received.

Cantrips

You learn 2 sorcerer or warlock cantrips, gaining an additional cantrip at 10th level.

Spellcasting Ability

Charisma is your spellcasting ability for your sorcerer and warlock spells, your spellcasting abilities stemming from latent powers that had lain dormant until you gained this archetype. You use your Charisma whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Charisma modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a sorcerer or warlock spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier

Arcane Talents

At 3rd level, your innate magics come to light, granting you proficiency in Intelligence (Arcana) and unlocking an Arcane Talent. You unlock an additional Arcane Talent at 8th, 13th, and 18th level, making a different selection for each Arcane Talent you gain.

Arcane Arsenal

Your preparedness for combat has influenced the way you can employ your magics, allowing you to weave your spells into the weapons and munitions you fight with to make them even more deadly. You gain the Arcane Arsenal power, which allows you to bind a spell to a weapon or piece of ammunition. The next time that weapon or piece of ammunition is used to make an attack, the spell is released on the target of that attack. Spells which require a spell attack to be made only affect the target if the weapon attack hits the target. Spells which have an area of effect have their area centered on or originate from the target of the attack.

Spells bound using this power persist for a number of hours equal to your Charisma modifier or until they are released by an attack. Only one spell may be bound to an item using this power at a time, and attempting to bind another spell to an item in this way will remove any spell currently on that item. You can use this power a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses after completing a long rest.

Arcane Ferocity

You have learned to be a relentless and ferocious attacker, using your spells to create openings for finishing blows with your weapons. Any time you inflict damage on at least one creature or object with a spell you cast, you can choose one creature or object you dealt damage to with that spell. The next attack you make against the chosen creature or object before the end of your next turn is made at advantage. You can use this power a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses upon completing a long rest.

Arcane Mind

Your latent arcane powers have manifested in a way that helps prevent confusion and manipulation. You gain proficiency in Intelligence saving throws.

Arcane Protection

Your latent powers have manifested in the ability to protect yourself from retaliation while employing your magics. Any time you cast a spell, you may use this power to grant yourself advantage on the next saving throw you make before the end of your next turn. You can do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses upon completion of a long rest.

Arcane Resolve

Your latent magical abilities have manifested in a way that prevents hazing of the mind, illusions, and various other negative effects. You gain proficiency in Wisdom saving throws.

Arcane Stamina

You have learned to tap into your physical stamina to power your spellcasting ability. You gain Arcane Stamina points equal to your Proficiency Bonus. You can expend a number of these Arcane Stamina points as a bonus action to restore a spell slot of a level equal to the number of points expended. You regain all used Arcane Stamina points upon completing a long rest.

Arcane Will

Your dormant magics have manifested in the form of enhancing your sheer force of will, granting you improved ability to stave off various kinds of mental assault. You gain proficiency in Charisma saving throws.

Arcane Warfare

By 7th level, your ability to mix martial and magical combat has enabled you to more freely interchange them in the heat of battle. Any time you take the attack action, you can cast a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action or 1 bonus action in place of one of your attacks.

By 15th level, you have integrated your magics so thoroughly into your fighting style that you can integrate more advanced magics into your attacks. Any time you take the attack action, you can cast a cantrip, 1st level spell, or 2nd level spell in place of one of your attacks. The spell cast must have a cast time of 1 action or 1 bonus action.
