Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow the Way of the Raging Sea are masters of fluidity, harnessing the untamed power of the ocean to enhance their martial prowess. These monks draw inspiration from the relentless ebb and flow of the sea, learning to move like water and strike with the force of a crashing wave.

Ocean's Blessing

Starting at 3rd level, you gain a swimming speed equal to your walking speed, and you can breathe underwater.

Ebb and Flow

Starting at 3rd level, you learn to harness the rhythmic forces of the ebbing tide and surging waves in combat. At the start of your turn, you can choose to spend 1 Ki point to enter a state of Ebb or Flow. This state lasts for 1 minute or until you choose to spend another Ki point.

  • Ebb: In the Ebb state, you gain a +1 bonus to your AC as you adopt a defensive stance, anticipating attacks with heightened awareness. Additionally, you have advantage on Dexterity saving throws to avoid being restrained or grappled.

  • Flow: In the Flow state, your movements become fluid and unpredictable. You gain a +10 feet bonus to your movement speed, and you can move through the space of creatures that are Medium sized or larger without provoking opportunity attacks.

You can switch between Ebb and Flow as a bonus action on your turn. The effects last until the start of your next turn. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Surging Harmony

Starting at 6th level, you have learned to surge and harmonize like the changing of the tide. You no longer have to use your bonus action to switch Stances, instead, you can spend 1 Ki point to do so as you have learned to master

You gain the following benefits when you enter into an Ebb and Flow Stance

Ebb: Whenever you use your Flurry of Blows feature, you can choose to infuse your attacks with the power of the sea. If you do, each successful unarmed strike you make during your Flurry of Blows allows you to push the target 5 feet away from you.

Additionally, when you hit a creature with a melee attack, you can choose to spend 1 ki point to unleash a burst of watery energy. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier) or be knocked prone.

Flow: When you use patient defense and a creature misses you with a melee attack roll, you can spend your reaction to cause that attack to hit one creature of your choice, other than the attacker, that you can see within 5 feet of you. If a ranged attack roll misses you can redirect to one creature of your choice, other than the attacker, that you can see within 30 feet of you.

You can choose to spend 1 Ki point to gain and use an additional reaction in this way. You can only do this once per turn.

Tidal Mastery

Starting at 11th level, you benefit from both Ebb and Flow stances simultaneously allowing for stronger control of nature both physically and magically.

When you enter the Ebb and Flow Stance you now gain the following:

Ebb: You can choose to spend either your action or 2 Ki points as part of a melee attack to send a tidal wave of force outwards in a 30 ft cone originating from the character. Each creature deemed hostile by the character must make a Strength saving throw. Each creature that fails the saving throw is knocked prone and pushed 15 feet back

Flow:  When you redirect an attack through patient defense, you can now redirect magical melee and ranged attacks.

Tidal Dominance

At 17th level, your Ebb and Flow evolve giving you complete dominance over the power and flow of the sea.

When you enter a stance of Ebb and Flow you gain the following:

Ebb:

  • You gain a +2 to your AC
  • Your unarmed strikes can now push enemies 10 feet back when striking with Fury of Blows if they are a size Large or smaller.
  • When activating Tidal Wave of Force, you can choose it to be a 30ft radius around you, instead of a cone

Flow:

  • You gain a +20 to your movement speed
  • You gain an additional reaction when deflecting either melee or ranged weapon/magical attacks. You can still spend an additional Ki point to gain 1 more reaction(Can do this up to 3 times).
