Gagazet Monastery Training

3rd-level Way of the Sky Lancer feature

You have been trained by the monks of Gagazet Temple and learned their ways of manipulating Ki. When you take this tradition at 3rd level, you gain the following benefits:

  • Mountain's Might: You gain proficiency in the Athletics and Survival skills. You can use your Wisdom modifier in place of your Strength modifier when making Strength checks and Strength saving throws.
  • Sky Lancer: You gain proficiency with the Glaive and Halberd weapons. These weapons are considered Monk weapons for you and you may use your Wisdom score in place of your Strength score when determining if you can wield the weapon.
  • Whirlwind Sprint: When you activate your Step of the Wind technique you may take both the Disengage and Dash actions.

Sky Lance

3rd-level Way of the Sky Lancer feature

You have devoted your life to the mastery of heavy polearms, becoming so attuned to your weapon that you are one and the same. When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you may choose a Glaive or Halberd and perform a ritual to bond the weapon to you with your ki. You perform the ritual over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. The weapon must be within your reach throughout the ritual, at the conclusion of which you touch the weapon and it becomes your Sky Lance.

Your Sky Lance is then stored on your body as a manifestation of your ki. You may choose how this manifests. (ie. it becomes a tattoo on your body, a talisman you wear at all times or in it's full weapon state sheathed upon your person etc)

Once you have bonded a weapon to yourself, you can’t be disarmed of that weapon unless you are incapacitated. At will, you can choose to summon or dismiss your weapon, either having it appear in your hand from where it is stored on your body if it is summoned or have it returned to it's stored state if you are dismissing it.

You may only have one weapon that is considered your Sky Lance. If you attempt to bond with another weapon you must break your bond with your current bonded weapon.

Sky Lancer Techniques

3rd-level Way of the Sky Lance feature

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain access to the fabled techniques of the Sky Lancers. While equipped with your Sky Lance, you gain access to the following benefits:

  • Lancer's Resolve: While unarmored and equipped with your Sky Lance, you gain +1 to your AC score
  • Reactive Thrust: When a creature enters your weapons reach, you may use your reaction to make an Opportunity Attack on that creature.
  • Steel Flurry: When you activate your Flurry of Blows technique, you may spend an additional ki point to replace the unarmed strikes with attacks from your Sky Lance
  • Elusive Jump: When you activate your Patient Defense technique, you may leap up to 10ft in any direction to an unoccupied space you can see. You may move through the space of Medium or smaller creatures as you leap over them. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.

Lancer's Soul

6th-level Way of the Sky Lancer feature

You have learned to deepen your bond with your Sky Lance and further refine your ki control, granting you the following benefits

Force Lance: Your attacks with your Sky Lance count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. You may have your Sky Lance deal force damage instead of it's normal damage type.

Force Strike: When you make an attack with your unarmed strikes or a weapon you are proficient with, you can spend 1 ki point to deal extra force damage equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom modifier on a hit. On a hit, the target must make your choice of a Strength saving throw or a Constitution saving throw. On a failed Strength save, if the target is Large or smaller, they are knocked 10 feet away from you and knocked prone. On a failed Constitution save they are stunned until the beginning of your next turn. You can use this feature only once per turn.

Dragoon Techniques

11th-level Way of the Sky Lancer feature

You have learned the secret techniques of the Sky Lancer order. You add +1 to the attack and damage rolls of attacks you make with your unarmed strikes and your Sky Lance if you are wielding a non-magic weapon, excluding your class or sub-class features.

Additionally, as an Action you may spend 4 ki points and perform one of the following techniques

  • Dragoon Slam: You leap to an unoccupied space you can see up to 20 feet away from you, delivering a ki-enhanced slam into the ground with your Sky Lance as you land. Each creature within 10 feet of where you land must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, each creature within range takes force damage damage equal to 4 roll's of your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom modifier and are knocked prone. On a successful save they take half the damage and do not suffer any other effects.
  • Dragoon Wave: You thrust out your Sky Lance, unleashing a wave of ki. Each creature in a 20 foot cone must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, each creature in range takes force damage equal to 4 rolls of your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom modifier and are pushed 15 feet away from you if they are Large or smaller. On a successful save they take half damage and do not suffer any other effects.
  • Dragoon Pulse: You unleash an explosion of ki from your body. Each creature within 5 feet of you must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, each creature in range takes force damage equal to 4 rolls of your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom modifier and are stunned until the beginning of your next turn. On a successful save they take half damage and do not suffer any other effects.

After you use a Dragoon technique, you may immediately use Patient Defense without consuming a ki point.

Sky Lance Mastery

17th-level Way of the Sky Lancer feature

You have mastered your Ki control and the wielding of Heavy Polearms. While you are equipped with your Sky Lance, you gain the following benefits:

  • Steel Tempest: When using Flurry of Blows, you may replace your unarmed strikes with attacks from your weapon without spending an additional ki point.
  • Dragoon Leap: The distance you jump when using Patient Defense increases to 20 feet and you may move through the space of Large or smaller creatures while using it as you leap over them.
  • Spear Wall: You may spend a ki point to use your Reactive Thrust without consuming your reaction. You may not use another reaction on a turn that you use this ability.
  • Dragoon Strike: Whenever you use Flurry of Blows or spend a Ki point to use your Reactive Thrust, you may make up to one of the attacks a Force Strike without spending a ki point. You may use this feature even if you have already used Force Strike that turn.
