Base Class: Monk
Monks following the Way of the Enlightened Ancestor train to touch Nirvana while living by reaching out to their ancestors who've done so already. Through intense training and meditation, these monks have made contact and created connections with their ancestors and monastic forbears who've reached enlightenment themselves, allowing them to learn martial arts styles of the spiritual realms.
Implanted Instincts
At 3rd level, you've gain access to echoes of your ancestors' combat skills. When creating a dedicated monk weapon, you can choose a weapon with the special and heavy properties, as well as a weapon that you aren't proficient in. You become proficient with it and can wield it using your Dexterity for attack and damage rolls until you use the feature on another weapon.
Style of the Guardian Spirit
At 3rd level, your connection to your ancestral line has led them to lend you their power to protect you and aid you in combat. You have the ability to summon spectral manifestations of your ancestors that grant you a spiritual martial arts style. This feature grants the following benefits:
- When hit by an attack, you can expend a ki point to reduce the damage by 2 rolls of your martial arts dice + your Wisdom modifier (this increases to 3 martial arts dice at level 7 and 4 dice at level 11), and the attacker must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the attacker takes the number you rolled as cold, force, or radiant damage (your choice) and is pushed back 10 feet as the spirit uses the momentum of the attack to counter-strike. On a succesful save, they take half damage and are not pushed.
- When making an unarmed strike, you can expend a ki point to make the target make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, they take additional cold, force, or radiant damage (your choice) equal to 2 rolls of your martial arts dice (3 msrtial srts dice at level 7, and 4 dice at level 11) and are pushed back 10 feet. On a successful save, they take half damage and are not pushed. If used on one of your Flurry of Blows attacks, this doesn't cost an additional ki point.
Enlightened Guidance
At 6th level, your meditation has allowed you to further access the skills, abilities, and power of your ancestors. Once per turn, you can add a roll of your martial arts die + your Wisdom modifier to an ability check or saving throw. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Style of the Ascendant Step
At 11th level, you've begun to assimilate with your ancestral spriits, giving you access to another of their martial arts styles. When sprinting and leaping, your ancestors imbue your body with swiftness of the spiritual realm. This feature can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest and grants you the following benefits:
- You can use Step of the wind without spending a ki point once per turn.
- By expending a ki point, you can use step of the wind as a free action at no movement cost before taking the attack action with a monk weapon or unarmed strike.
Style of One Thousand Strikes
At 17th level, your connection to your enlightened ancestors has allowed you to temporarily reach Nirvana. As a bonus action, you can spend 3 ki points to enter a stance after which dozens of apectral arms float around you. This feature lasts a minute and can be used once per long rest. This stance grants you the following benefits:
- You have a bonus to Wisdom saving throws equal to your Wisdom modifier.
- You can perform a Flurry of Blows without expending a ki point, but a ki point can be soent to do an extra unarmed strike as part of the Flurry of Blows
- Additional cold, force, or radiant damage granted by your Styles of the Gurdian Spirit and Spirit Step isn't rolled, instead, you add damage equal to the maximum possible number that could be rolled to the unarmed strike.
- Damage reduced by your Style of the Guardian Spirit is not rolled, instead, you take the maximum possible number that could be rolled as the damage reduction.
