Base Class: Fighter
he Weapon Specialist is a Fighter subclass dedicated to mastering a wide array of weaponry and using them with unparalleled skill on the battlefield. These fighters excel in versatility, seamlessly transitioning between different weapons to adapt to any combat situation. Their training allows them to wield each weapon with precision, leveraging unique strengths and tactics associated with each.
Combat Flow
At 3rd level, you learn to seamlessly transition between different weapons and combat styles in the heat of battle. You gain the following benefits:
-
Adaptive Fighting: When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can use a bonus action to switch to another weapon you are carrying and make an additional melee weapon attack with the new weapon. This attack deals extra damage equal to your proficiency bonus.
-
Combat Insight: Your deep understanding of weapons and combat tactics allows you to anticipate and react to your opponent’s moves. When a creature within 5 feet of you misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on that creature's next attack roll against you before the end of its next turn.
-
Battle Ready: You can add half your proficiency bonus (rounded down) to any initiative rolls you make.
Parry and Riposte
You learn to read and react to your opponents' movements. When a creature misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to attempt a counterattack. Make a melee weapon attack against the attacking creature. If you hit, you deal damage as normal and add an extra 1d4 damage of the weapon's type. This extra damage increases to 1d6 at 10th level and 1d8 at 18th level.
Mirror Technique
At 7th level, you have honed your observational skills and adaptability in combat to the point where you can mimic your opponent's techniques. You gain the following benefits:
-
Mirror Strike: When a creature within 5 feet of you makes a melee weapon attack against you, you can use your reaction to attempt to mimic their attack. Make a melee weapon attack against the creature using the same attack roll and modifiers as the triggering attack. If your attack hits, it deals damage as normal.
-
Adaptive Learning: Once per short or long rest, as a bonus action, you can choose one melee weapon attack made by a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you. Until the end of your next turn, you gain advantage on attack rolls made with a melee weapon against that creature, and you deal extra damage equal to your proficiency bonus on a hit.
Weapon Counter
Your experience in combat has taught you how to counter various weapon types effectively. When you are hit by a melee attack, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage by an amount equal to 1d10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Fighter level. If you reduce the damage to 0, you can make a melee weapon attack against the attacker as part of the same reaction. This ability can be used once per round, as reactions refresh at the start of your turn.
Weapon Savant
You have become a true master of weaponry, capable of exploiting any opening. When you score a critical hit with a weapon attack, you can choose one of the following effects:
- The target is disarmed, dropping one item of your choice that it is holding.
- The target is knocked prone.
- The target is stunned until the end of your next turn.
Master Duelist
Your skill in single combat is unparalleled. When you engage in melee combat with a single creature, you gain the following benefits:
- You have advantage on attack rolls against the creature.
- The creature has disadvantage on attack rolls against you.
- When the creature misses you with a melee attack, you can make a melee weapon attack against it as a reaction.
