In the Forgotten Realms, an elite order known as the Swiftblades has risen to prominence, celebrated for their mastery of speed and agility. These extraordinary fighters undergo relentless training to become living embodiments of rapidity, moving with a grace and precision that seem to defy mortal limits. Through rigorous discipline, they hone their bodies and minds, achieving feats that leave both allies and foes in awe. Swiftblades are renowned not just for their skill in battle but as symbols of hope and resilience, their incredible swiftness carving tales of heroism into the annals of history.
Legends tell of their unmatchable speed, darting between enemies and unleashing swift, devastating strikes that bewilder their foes. As they progress, Swiftblades unlock extraordinary abilities, cementing their place as paragons of agility on the battlefield.
Fleetfooted
At the onset of their journey, Swiftblades gain the Fleetfooted ability, the foundation of their exceptional speed. Their base movement speed increases by 15 feet, a bonus that enhances their position in combat and makes them harder to hit. Furthermore, they may add their proficiency bonus to all Dexterity saving throws, reinforcing their ability to evade danger.
Evasive Maneuvers
At this level, Swiftblades unlock Evasive Maneuvers, reaching new heights in battlefield agility. When targeted by an attack, they may use their reaction to make a Dexterity saving throw against the attacker’s roll. The DC equals the enemy’s attack roll or half the damage total, whichever is higher. If successful, the fighter completely evades the attack and can either move up to half their movement speed without provoking opportunity attacks or gain Temporary HP equal to their Dexterity Modifier.
Rapid Rush
You may now burn a Second Wind to gain a temporary 30-foot boost to your movement speed until the start of your next turn. This surge allows you to cross great distances in a single breath, catching foes off guard or aiding allies swiftly.
Additionally, whenever you take the Dash action, you can make a single weapon attack as a bonus action. This seamless blend of movement and offense allows them to strike effectively, even as they reposition or withdraw.
Unstoppable Momentum
Upon reaching 15th level, Swiftblades attain Unstoppable Momentum, an ability that grants immunity to any movement speed reductions to include the Grappled, Paralyzed, and Restrained conditions for one minute, usable once per short rest as a bonus action.
Moreover, their attacks carry the force of their motion. If they move at least 20 feet before attacking while Unstoppable Momentum is active, they deal extra force damage equal to their Fighter level. The sheer speed and power of these strikes often leave foes reeling, amplifying the Swiftblade’s impact on the battlefield.
Blinding Speed
At the peak of their training, Swiftblades gain Blinding Speed, solidifying their place as masters of agility. Moving through the battlefield, if they move their full movement speed, they no longer provoke opportunity attacks until the end of that turn. Additionally, if the Swiftblade isn’t wearing medium or heavy armor, they gain a +10 bonus to AC for the first attack made against them each round, as their evasive speed is nearly impossible for foes to predict.
Enemies are left bewildered, and allies emboldened, as the Swiftblade becomes the living embodiment of unparalleled speed and precision.
