Base Class: Fighter
Twin Beast Duellist
The path of the Twin Beast Duellist is one of balance and explosive mastery, walking between two eternal forces: the flowing might of the Dragon and the fierce precision of the Tiger. Trained in ancient martial disciplines, these warriors blend elegance and power, serenity and aggression, into a style that is as beautiful as it is terrifying.
A Twin Beast Duellist wields their weapon like an extension of their spirit. With a single breath, they can unsheathe and resheathe their blade in a flash of light and a thunderous roar that echoes across the battlefield—shaking the will of those who stand against them. More than just martial prowess, they harness their inner beast, channelling its form into stances that evolve over time and grant them powerful options in combat.
Level 3: Roaring Blade
As a bonus action, you can unsheath or resheath a weapon, releasing a shockwave of spiritual force. Each creature of your choice within 10 feet must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Strength or Dexterity modifier) or be frightened of you until the end of your next turn. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus per long rest. If the target is immune to the frightened condition, they are deafened instead.
Level 3: Twin Beast Stances
When you roll initiative, choose either Tiger Stance or Dragon Stance. You can switch stances as a bonus action.
Tiger Stance:
- When you take the Attack action, you may move up to 10 feet before each attack without provoking opportunity attacks.
- Once per turn when you hit with two weapon attacks, the target must succeed on a Strength save or be knocked prone or pushed 10 feet (your choice).
Dragon Stance:
- You gain +2 AC against opportunity attacks and reactions.
- When a creature misses you with a melee attack, you can move 5 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
Level 3: Beast Techniques
At 3rd level, you learn one Dragon Technique and one Tiger Technique from the list below. You gain another at 7th and 15th level. You can activate one technique when you use Action Surge.
Tiger Techniques
-
Howling Pounce: Leap 20 feet and, if your next attack hits, deal +1d10 damage and knock the target prone on a failed Strength save.
-
Relentless Strikes: Gain an additional weapon attack when you Action Surge.
-
Pressure Claws: Creatures within 10 feet provoke opportunity attacks for any attack made until your next turn.
Dragon Techniques
-
Flow Like Water: Reduce damage from one attack by 1d10 + your Fighter level as a reaction.
-
Wyrm’s Glare: Force a Wisdom save or charm a creature until end of your next turn.
-
Foresight Pulse: Immediately switch stance and gain advantage on one saving throw made before the end of your next turn.
Level 7: Surge Echo
When you use Action Surge, regain one expended use of Roaring Blade. Roaring Blade now has a 15 ft range, and frightened creatures have disadvantage on their next attack.
Level 10: Harmonized Form
You gain the benefits of both Dragon and Tiger stances simultaneously. When you use Action Surge, you may activate one Dragon and one Tiger Technique instead of just one.
Level 15: Twin Surge
You gain one additional use of Action Surge. Additionally, your mastery over weapons has transcended the typical limitations. You can now dual-wield any weapons, ignoring the two-handed property, without suffering the usual penalties.
Level 18: Awaken the Beast-Soul
As a bonus action, you enter Beast-Soul Form for 1 minute, gaining the following benefits:
- Your movement speed increases by 10 feet.
- Roaring Blade can now be used each turn without expending uses.
- When you use Action Surge, you can make two additional weapon attacks instead of one.
- At the start of each of your turns, you may choose to one creature within 15 feet. The creature must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it becomes frightened of you and your allies until the end of your next turn. If the creature has less than half of its hit points remaining, it automatically fails the saving throw and is frightened.
You may use this feature once per long rest.
