Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow the Way Of The Oncoming Storm devote much of their lives to studying the phenomena of storms, and incorporating what they observe into their techniques.

Legends say that monks with these techniques hit as quick as lightning and hard as thunder. Others say that their power came from entering the eye of a storm and letting the power surge through them, others yet say that their powers come from the god of thunder himself.

Whatever is true, these monks are expert combatants, and are not to be trifled with, lest their foes wish to be quickly humbled on the battlefield by their swift movements and awesome power.

Storm Discipline

Your training complete, you can now harness the power of the storm in your ki, and can choose from one of two trees to master.

Way Of Lightning

When you choose the Way Of Lightning, you reflect on the speed and agility of a storm's lightning, incorporating it into your fighting style.

At the start of each turn, you can choose to use lightning damage instead of your normal damage type for your unarmed strikes.

Way Of Thunder

If you follow the Way Of Thunder, you choose to reflect on the overwhelming power of thunder, deafening your opponents with your ki.

At the start of each turn, you can choose to use thunder damage for your unarmed strikes instead of your normal damage type.

Power Of The Storm

As your mastery over your ki continues, your discipline continues to grow. For those who follow the teachings of thunder, your blows become fierce and deafening. For those who follow the teachings of lightning, you become elusive and nimble.

Choose from one of the two options below:

Lightning Step

As your mastery over the element of lightning continues to grow, you quicken your movements in the thick of combat, making you nimble and hard to catch.

After you hit an enemy with an unarmed strike, you can spend a ki point to increase your AC by 1 until the start of your next turn.

Thunderstrike

As your mastery over the thunder element continues, you learn to use it's force to make your blows heavy and unrelenting.

After you hit an opponent with an unarmed strike, you can choose to add a d8 of thunder damage to the attack by spending a ki point.

Stormcalling

As a master of the Way Of The Oncoming Storm, you have learned to communicate directly with the storm energies in the air whilst meditating, in order to gain it's favour.

Choose from the options below:

Lightning Bolt

You learn the lightning bolt spell, and can cast it as an action for 3 ki points.

A stroke of lightning forming a line 100 feet long and 5 feet wide blasts out from you in a direction you choose. Each creature in the line must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 8d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The lightning ignites flammable objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried.

Thunder Step

You learn the Thunder Step spell, and it can be used for 3 ki points as an action.

You teleport yourself to an unoccupied space you can see within range. Immediately after you disappear, a thunderous boom sounds, and each creature within 10 feet of the space you left must make a Constitution saving throw, taking 3d10 thunder damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The thunder can be heard from up to 300 feet away.
You can bring along objects as long as their weight doesn’t exceed what you can carry. You can also teleport one willing creature of your size or smaller who is carrying gear up to its carrying capacity. The creature must be within 5 feet of you when you cast this spell, and there must be an unoccupied space within 5 feet of your destination space for the creature to appear in; otherwise, the creature is left behind.

Storm's Fury

At the pinnacle of your power, you have managed to develop a powerful technique which harnesses the full power of a raging storm.

Choose from one of the options below:

Lightning Blows

Your mastery over the element of lightning has allowed you to develop this rapid hitting technique, akin to pummeling your foe with rapid lightning strikes.

As a bonus action, you can spend 5 ki points to force an opponent you hit with an unarmed strike to make a Dexterity saving throw. If they fail, the target takes 8d8 lightning damage and is blinded until the start of your next turn. Targets who succeed simply take half of the damage.

Thunderclap

Your control over the element of thunder allows you to focus the full power of a thunder strike into a single blow, devastating your opponent.

As a bonus action, you can spend 5 ki points to force an opponent you hit with an unarmed strike to make a Dexterity saving throw. If they fail, the target takes 8d8 thunder damage and is forced back 20ft and knocked prone. Targets who succeed simply take half of the damage.
