Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bard Subclass (5e Conversion of 4e Prescient Bard)

Bards of the College of Prescience are masters of foresight, subtle manipulation, and predictive magic. They read the flow of time and probability, twisting fate with clever words and keen perception. Their magic allows them to guide their allies away from danger and exploit the smallest weaknesses in their foes’ plans before they are even made.

Prescient Insight

3rd-level College of Prescience feature

Your insight into future possibilities lets you subtly manipulate fate to your advantage.

When you give a creature Bardic Inspiration, you also roll your Bardic Inspiration die and record the number rolled (separately from the Inspiration die itself).

Once before the end of your next turn, you can use your reaction to apply that number to a creature’s d20 roll (attack roll, ability check, or saving throw) that you can see within 60 feet. You choose whether to add or subtract the number from the roll, but you must do so before the result is revealed.

For example, if you gave Inspiration and rolled a 6, you could later subtract 6 from an enemy's saving throw or add 6 to an ally's attack roll.

You can use this feature once per turn and can only have one such number stored at a time. If you give Bardic Inspiration again, the previous stored number is replaced.

Cutting Forethought

3rd-level College of Prescience feature

Your understanding of future actions lets you prepare the perfect interruption.

When a creature you can see within 60 feet makes an attack roll, you can use your reaction to expend one use of Bardic Inspiration. Roll your Bardic Inspiration die and subtract it from the enemy’s roll. If the result causes the roll to miss or fail, the target is also restrained or disoriented (your choice) until the start of its next turn:

  • Restrained: It cannot move and has disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws.

  • Disoriented: It has disadvantage on its next attack roll and concentration checks.

Echoes of Tomorrow

6th-level College of Prescience feature

You momentarily perceive overlapping futures, allowing you to preemptively act.

At the start of your turn, you can choose to see one of the following:

  • The next attack roll made against you before the end of your turn.

  • The next saving throw an ally within 30 feet will make before the start of your next turn.

You roll the d20 now and record the number. When the triggering event occurs, you can replace the result with the one you rolled. You can do this once per short or long rest. At 14th level, you can use this feature twice per rest.

Foreseen Footsteps

6th-level College of Prescience feature

Your glimpses into the near future let you move yourself and others with perfect timing.

When a creature you can see within 30 feet misses with an attack or fails a saving throw, you can use your reaction to grant them a sudden insight or shift in position. Choose one of the following effects:

  • They may immediately move up to 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.

  • They may reroll the attack or saving throw, but must take the second result.

  • They may gain resistance to all damage until the start of your next turn.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum 1), and you regain all uses on a long rest.

Rewrite Fate

14th-level College of Prescience feature

Your foresight reaches its peak, allowing you to shift reality itself in minor but meaningful ways.

When a creature you can see within 60 feet rolls a d20 for an attack, ability check, or saving throw, you can use your reaction to force them to reroll and take either result (your choice).

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and regain all expended uses on a long rest.

Additionally, you are under the effects of the foresight spell for 1 minute whenever you finish a long rest, once per day (no concentration required).
