Bard
Base Class: Bard

Eilistraee teaches that life is to be lived as art, bringing beauty, wonder and hope wherever you go. You embraced her ideals as your credo, and strive to make beauty shine even in the deepest abyss, using your music and song both to nurture and protect it.

Singing Sword Training

You discover within yourself a profound connection between your martial prowess and musical talents, you blend combat and song with ease. With finesse and beauty, you wield longswords as extensions of your body much like the Dark Maiden herself, while any singing swords and special enchanted blades can be used as instruments of sharp melodies, both physically and as part of your songs. In battles, you pirouette a dance of death, slashing through foes with deadly dexterity, while inspiring your allies with the beauty of your music through the sound of blood on your blade and the lacerations through the air, embodying the duality of your weapons as symbols of both power and artistry.

  • You can treat longswords like finesse weapons when wielding them one-handed.
  • You may also use singing swords or other DM qualified magical swords (long, short, great, etc) as a bardic instrument. They can be silenced like other instruments but double as a weapon, freeing your other hand.

Spelldance

You immerse yourself in the sacred arts of performance, weaving your music and dance into the very fabric of your spells. Your performances become the heart and soul of your spellcasting, with each note and step resonating with the power and grace of Eilistraee. Through your connection to the divine, you gain extra proficiency in the Performance skill, embodying the spirit of artistic expression cherished by followers of Eilistraee. In moments of peril, your unwavering faith allows you to draw upon your faith in Eilistraee, to maintain concentration amidst the chaos of battle, ensuring that the flow of your magic remains unbroken, and her will enacted.

  • You gain proficiency in the Performance skill if you aren't proficient yet, and expertise in the Performance skill if you are.
  • Furthermore, a melody played with a musical instrument of your choice or sung with your voice counts as the verbal component of your spells, and your dance counts as the somatic component of your spells. This feature doesn't erase the need for a spell focus.
  • When making a Constitution saving throw to maintain concentration on a Bard spell, you may add your Charisma modifier to the roll instead (but not your proficiency bonus, unless you're already proficient in CON saving throws).

Additional Spells

With each new level of mastery, you delve deeper into the mysteries of your divine heritage, honing your skills and expanding your repertoire of spells to further embody the essence of Eilistraee's grace and beauty.

You learn the secrets of Eilistraee's Moonfire cantrip, summoning an orb of moonlight that illuminates the darkness and can be shaped into an icy moonfire comet to vanquish your foes. You may also choose to harness the power of creation with conjure food and water, or to summon a spiritual weapon familiar to aid you in battle.

You may also further your knowledge of the Spellsong, the sacred dance of Eilistraee. Through the intricate movements of your dance, you unlock a myriad of benefits and blessings, drawing upon the divine energy of the Moon Maiden to protect and empower yourself and your allies.

When you ascend to greater heights of power, you may weave ribbons of moonlight into a structure that shields your allies from harm and guides them along the path of the Moon Maiden's divine grace, embracing your role as a champion of Eilistraee and a beacon of light in a world shrouded in darkness.

  • You learn the Eilistraee's Moonfire cantrip and Eilistraee's DanceCreate Food and WaterSpiritual Weapon and Moon Path are now part of your Bard spell list for you, and you can learn them like any other Bard spell, as long as you have spell slots of the appropriate level.
  • Spellsongs are now part of the Bard spell list for you: when you learn a new Bard spell, as long as you have spell slots of the appropriate level, you can choose to further your knowledge of the spellsong and learn one of the six different songs.
  • Extra Attack

You achieve mastery over the sword dance, gaining the ability to make an extra attack when you already have made one. You are becoming a true embodiment of the Moon Maiden's divine grace, wielding her blades with unmatched precision and elegance in service of her and the greater good.

    • Beginning at Bard 6th level, you can attack twice with your weapon, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

    Smile of the Dark Lady

As you sing and dance, the light and beauty of Eilistraee radiate through you. Your art touches deep chords in the hearts of those who witness it, moving and soothing them. You may invoke Eilistraee's guidance to mesmerize your foes and protect your allies.

Choose a number of creatures up to your Charisma modifier that are within 30 ft from you and that can hear or see you. The creatures must take a Wisdom saving throw against your spell DC: on a failure, they become touched by your art and are charmed by you. While charmed by this effect, targets cannot try to inflict damage or conditions to you or allies. The targets can take a new wisdom saving throw every round after the first one, ending the condition on a success. If the target keeps failing their saving throw, the condition lasts up to 1 minute. Taking damage immediately ends the condition.

Alternatively, if you perform for at least 1 minute, at the end of the performance you choose a number of targets within 60 feet of you who watched and listened to all of it, up to a number equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one). Each target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be charmed by you. While charmed in this way, the targets will be under both effects of the spell Calm Emotions. This effect ends on a target after 1 hour, if it is attacked or harmed by a spell, if you attack it, or if it witness any of its friends being harmed.
