Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow this path pursue the study of ki by mastering a single melee weapon. To unite this weapon of choice with the body, to make them one, to use the weapon as naturally and without thought as any other limb, is the goal of weapon master.

Level 3: Path of the Kensei

Kensei Weapons. Choose two types of weapons to be your kensei weapons: one melee weapon and one ranged weapon. Each of these weapons can be any simple or martial weapon. Your Gain Weapon Mastery with each of your chosen weapons.

The longbow is also a valid choice. You gain proficiency with these weapons if you don’t already have it. Weapons of the chosen types are monk weapons for you. Many of this tradition’s features work only with your kensei weapons. When you reach 6th, 11th, and 17th level in this class, you can choose another type of weapon — either melee or ranged — to be a kensei weapon for you, following the criteria above.

When you are wielding a Kensei Weapon you can use the following combat stances.

Offensive Stance.  You can use a bonus action on your turn to make your attacks with a kensei weapon more deadly. When you do so, any target you hit with a attack using a kensei weapon takes the weapons normal damage and extra damage of the weapon’s type equal to one roll of your martial arts die. You retain this benefit until the end of the current turn. You can use this feature only if you haven’t moved during this turn, and after you use it, your Speed is 0 until the end of the current turn.

Stance of Precision. As a Bonus Action, you give yourself Advantage on your attack rolls on the current turn. You can use this feature only if you haven’t moved during this turn, and after you use it, your Speed is 0 until the end of the current turn.

Defensive Stance. As a Bonus Action, you can take the Dodge action. You can use this feature only if you haven’t moved during this turn, and after you use it, your Speed is 0 until the end of the current turn.

Fighting Style

At 3rd level, you adopt a style of fighting as your specialty. Choose one of the following options. You can’t take a Fighting Style option more than once, even if something in the game lets you choose again.

Agile Parry

If you make an unarmed strike as part of the Attack action on your turn and are holding a kensei weapon, you can use it to defend yourself if it is a melee weapon. You gain a +2 bonus to AC until the start of your next turn, while the weapon is in your hand and you aren’t incapacitated.

Archery

You gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls you make with Ranged weapons.

Dueling

When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you g.ain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.

Great Weapon Fighting

When you roll damage for an attack you make with a Melee weapon that you are holding with two hands, you can treat any 1 or 2 on a damage die as a 3. The weapon must have the Two-Handed or Versatile property to gain this benefit.

Thrown Weapon Fighting

When you hit with a ranged attack roll using a weapon that has the Thrown property, you gain a +2 bonus to the damage roll.

Two-Weapon Fighting

When you engage in two-weapon fighting, you can add your ability modifier to the damage of the second attack.

Level 6: One with the Blade

At 6th level, you extend your Focus into your kensei weapons, granting you the following benefits.

Kensei  Force Weapons. You can choose to change the damage of your kensei weapons to Force damage.  

Deft Strike. When you hit a target with a kensei weapon, you can spend 1 Focus point to cause the weapon to do maximum damage to the target. You can use this feature only once on each of your turns.

Sharpen the Blade

At 11th level, you gain the ability to augment your weapons further with your Focus. As a bonus action, you can expend up to 3 Focus points to grant one kensei weapon you touch a bonus to attack and damage rolls when you attack with it. The bonus equals the number of Focus points you spent. This bonus lasts for 1 minute or until you use this feature again. This feature has no effect on a magic weapon that already has a bonus to attack and damage rolls.

Kensei Weapon - Extra Attack

When you reach 11th level in this class, When you use the extra attack you can take two extra attacks, one must be with a Kensei weapon.

Unerring Accuracy

At 17th level, your mastery of weapons grants you extraordinary accuracy. If you miss with an attack roll using a monk weapon on your turn, you can reroll it. You can use this feature only once on each of your turns.
