Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Primal, or the Ancient Aadim, train to reach their inner primal states, unleashing the titanic hidden power within them. Shifting their forms to utilise this immense strength better makes these monks revered as protectors of mountain monasteries. An easy way to know if a master Way of the Primal monk is in the area is to see if there are any natural creatures nearby, as they will flee the area in respect of the great master's power.
Initiates, those still training to connect with their primal selves, are called doh. Full-fledged lesser monks, levels 1-5, attain the honorable title of bahari. Monks who have conquered the self yet not fully mastered the beast, levels 6-10, are given the revered title of vanar. Disciples who have wed their souls to the deep ancestral way, levels 11-15, are known as saru. Masters of primal harmony, levels 16-20, are the adama. There is typically only one among the order at any given time. A monk's title prefaces their name as an honorific. As one progresses along the path, one's natural state becomes visibly more simian.
Their neighbors have come to rely on the Aadim for protection and healing as well as academic and spiritual instruction. However, their bestial appearance has promoted fear among some, ironically, a primal reaction to mortals who have embraced their inner ape.
Their teachings are housed in two sacred texts. One is the lower siddhaant, the other is the upper kaanoon.
Level 3: Primal Aspect
If you are smaller than Large, you become Large, along with anything you are wearing. If you lack the room to become Large, your size doesn't change. While in this form you gain the following boons;
- You have advantage on Strength ability checks and saving throws.
- You gain a climbing speed equal to your walking speed.
- Attacking at long range doesn't impose disadvantage on your ranged weapon attacks with thrown weapons.
- Improvised thrown weapons count as monk weapons for the duration of the transformation.
Level 6: Apex Howl
At 6th level, as an action, you can spend 2 Ki Points to let out a war howl; hostile creatures that can hear you within 30 feet must make a Wisdom saving throw.
On a failed save, each creature takes thunder damage equal to 3 rolls on your martial arts die and is frightened of you until the start of your next turn, or half as much on a successful save and not frightened.
Level 11: Dominion of Self
At 11th level, you gain the following boons while transformed;
- Your unarmed strikes deal double damage to structures.
- You have resistance to non-magical bludgeoning, slashing, and piercing damage.
Level 17: King of Earth
At 17th level, as an action, you can spend 5 ki points to strike the ground, creating a small earthquake. Each creature on the ground within a 30-foot cone must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone and take 6d6 thunder damage. Creatures take half damage on a successful save and do not receive the prone status.
