Base Class: Fighter
A subclass based of the Dragon Riders of Alagaesia. You might have been a fleeing Rider escaping a hostile invasion. You may have been a farmer who found an egg in the mountains. Or you might be a student of Eragon himself, and now is exploring the lands beyond your home.
Level 1: Dragon Companion
You gain a Dragon Companion that is of your choice. You can speak to it Telepathically and in Draconic. It can speak to any one of its choice in Telepathic. Unlike common belief, Dragon’s are intelligent creatures and a race of their own in their own right. (Go to the Dragon Companion stat block for information.)
Elven Transformation
Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1. Your Strength may go over 20, but your Constitution cannot.
Level 7: Power Investment
You may use an ability score point and put it into a gemstone. Different score types give different points of magic. Each 10 points of magic can cast a level 3 spell or lower. 30 points can cast 4-6. 90 can cast up to level 9. Each point you use is put into the gem. You lose the score and it is decreased by the amount you put into the stone. On your next rest you may regain your score. Even if you regain your points, the magic points stay in the stone, and the points can stack. The gem you use can hold up to 100 magic points, and you may have multiple gems.
Score points to Magic points conversion:
- Con or Str - 3 Magic Points
- Dex or Cha - 2 Magic Points
- Wis or Int - 1 Magic Point
Level 7: The Ancient Language
As your knowledge of the Ancient Language grows your knowledge, you gain more spells. Choose a class’ spell list and add it to your own.
Level 10: Power Transfer
You transfer the Challenge Rating of a creature into Magic Points, multiplying the Challenge Rating by 3.
Level 10: A Rider’s Blade
You gain the ability to add enchantments onto your blade, as well as a spell that allows you to find brightsteel, an extremely rare metal that is exceptionally durable. It is responsive to enchantments, making them increase. In order to add enchantments onto your blade, you must use all of the magic points in one of your gemstones’ reservoirs. The enchantment is of your choice, but the amount of magic points in your gemstone increases the damage of protection it grants. If you have proficiency in Smith’s Tools, you may craft a sword of brightsteel, but it must be forged using dragon fire, preferably the Dragon you are bonded with. And if your Rider blade forged with brightsteel has a gem in the pommel, it can hold up to 150 Magic points. The enchantments may stack, but it will lose a die or a point of AC with each addition.
10 - 30: + 1d12 or 2 AC
40 - 60: + 2d12 or 4 AC
70 - 90: + 3d12 or 6 AC
Level 15: Body Swap
The Rider can see through the eyes of the Dragon, creating a true bond. The Dragon feels what the Rider feels, and the other way around. Both gain truesight, tremorsense, blindsight, and darkvision for 60 ft., as well as seeing as if in full brightness in dim light, and dim light in complete darkness. They both gain half the health points of the other.
Level 18: The Name of Names
With the Name of Names, you gain immense power. No magic can happen without your will, and you can reshape all magic. With the Name of Names, you gain the following abilities for one minute or 5 turns of combat:
- 3/Per usage: No magic can affect you without your permission. Any fireballs dissipate, and spell casters forget what they were casting.
- 3/Per usage: You may change any spell to become another spell. You may weaken the spell, strengthen it, or change it entirely.
- 5/Per usage: You may dominate any creature, and choose their action.
- 5/Per usage: You may cast spells up to level 6 without spell slots or magic points.
If you use the Name of Names, you instantly lose half of your hit points and half of your Magic Points in your highest containing gemstone. You cannot use the Name of Names again until your next long rest.
