Base Class: Wizard
Arcane Archers practice an ancient elven technique that encodes spellcraft into the geometry of the bow and the path of the arrow. First developed by elven mages who defended their realms from afar, this art treats each shot as a moving sigil—an arcane formula carried through the air to its intended point of impact.
Whereas Bladesingers weave spell and blade in close combat, Arcane Archers instead master distance, timing, and precision, shaping magic that strikes from beyond an enemy’s reach. Though the tradition has spread beyond its elven origins, its practitioners still prize patience, discipline, and the belief that magic, when properly aimed, rarely misses its mark.
Spellbow Training
Spellbow Training (2nd level)
You gain proficiency with shortbows and longbows.
you gain proficiency with once ranger skill of your choice
You can use the bow you are wielding as an arcane focus for your wizard spells.
Arcane Draw
2nd-level Arcane Archer feature
You can enter a heightened state of magical focus, guiding spell and shot as one.
As a bonus action, you activate Arcane Draw, which lasts for 1 minute. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. It ends early if you are incapacitated, if you don medium or heavy armor or a shield, or if you make an attack with a weapon other than a bow. You can also dismiss the Arcane Draw at any time (no action required).
While your Arcane Draw is active, you gain the following benefits:
- You gain a bonus to your AC equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of +1).
- Your walking speed increases by 10 feet.
- When you cast a wizard cantrip with a range other than Self, you may instead deliver it through a bow attack with a range equal to the bow’s normal range
- You gain a bonus to any Constitution saving throw you make to maintain your concentration on a spell. The bonus equals your Intelligence modifier (minimum of +1).
Arcane Draw ends early if you:
- Wear medium or heavy armor
- Use a shield
- Make an attack with a weapon other than a bow
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.
Extra Attack
6th-level Arcane Archer feature
You can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
Moreover, you can cast one of your wizard cantrips in place of one of those attacks.
Spellshot Mastery
10th-level Arcane Archer feature
You have mastered the art of binding prepared magic to your shots.
When you cast a wizard spell of 1st level or higher that either requires an attack roll or forces a creature to make a saving throw, you may make one ranged weapon attack with a bow as part of the same action.
On a hit:
- The spell originates from the creature struck
- If the spell deals damage, the bow’s damage is added as force damage
- The spell and range weapon attack ignore half cover and three-quarters cover
You can use this feature once per turn, and a number of times per long rest equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of once).
Arcane Barrage
14th-level Arcane Archer feature
You can unleash a devastating volley of spell-laced arrows.
While Arcane Draw is active, once per use of Arcane Draw, when you cast a wizard spell of 3rd level or lower, you may immediately make a ranged weapon attack with a bow against each creature affected by the spell, up to a maximum number of creatures equal to your Intelligence modifier.
- Each hit deals the bow’s normal damage as force damage
- If a creature fails its saving throw against the triggering spell, it has disadvantage on the first saving throw it makes against a spell you cast before the end of your next turn
