Base Class: Monk
Some disciplines focus their ki through violence, whereas others channel their ki into peace. Some, however, weave their ki energy into physical illusions. Whether bringing entertainment to the people of the realm or using their tricks to steal, these monks can prove to be valuable allies and heinous foes.
Illusory Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate your ki energy to form an illusory duplicate of yourself. The illusion costs 2 ki points and takes an action to form, lasting for 1 hour or until it's dispelled, and requires concentration. While the illusion lasts, you gain the following benefits:
- You can use your reaction to have the illusion attack an enemy. The attack has the same stats as your unarmed strike.
- If an enemy makes an attack roll against you while your illusion is within 5ft of you, roll a d6. On a 4-6, the attack instead hits your duplicate.
The illusion has 1 hit point. It is dispelled if it drops to 0 hit points. It shares your stats, but it does not share any magic items or spells that increase AC. As a bonus action, you can move your illusion up to your movement.
Arcane Illusions
At 6th level, you can use your ki to duplicate the effects of certain spells. As an action, you can spend 1 ki point to cast Disguise Self without providing verbal or material components. Additionally, you gain the Minor Illusion cantrip if you don't already know it.
Additionally, you can use this illusion to conceal something bigger than yourself. Choose an object that fits within a 40ft x 40ft cube. You can spend 4 ki points to change the appearance of this object. You can make it appear larger or smaller, as long as the illusory form also fits within the cube. The illusion takes 1 minute to create for every 10ft x 10ft cube the object fills. This illusion requires concentration, and lasts for one hour or until dispelled.
Additionally, your Illusory Technique becomes stronger. You and your double are able to protect each other from damage, parrying blows that would otherwise hit you. When within 5ft, you gain an AC bonus, which increases every time you get an Ability Score Increase or Feat (+1 at Level 6, +2 at Level 8, +3 at Level 12, +4 at Level 16, +5 at Level 19). This bonus extends to your double as well.
Misdirecting Illusion
Beginning at 11th level, you can create an illusory duplicate of yourself as an instant, almost instinctual reaction to danger. When a creature makes an attack roll against you, you can use your reaction and spend 3 ki points to interpose the illusory duplicate between the attacker and yourself. The attack automatically misses you, then the illusion dissipates.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Overwhelming Illusions
At 17th level, you gain the ability to set up a lethal all-out attack against one enemy. As an action, you can spend any number of ki points to cause instantaneous duplicates of yourself. Make a number of unarmed strikes equal to the number of ki points you spent + 1 (for yourself). The illusory duplicates dissipate immediately after attacking. Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until you complete a long rest.
