The Oath of Renewal sets a paladin on the path to provide aid and protection to those in need. These paladins will often travel from village to village assisting in whatever manner that they can. This might mean that they serve as a healer, assisting towns guards, or even as an escort while they travel. To them, those who forget to provide such services to the common folk are doomed to let these villages be fall apart from the bottom up.

Even though most paladin who take this oath restrain themselves from the use of excessive violence. There are some who join such causes like military groups to provide aid and protection to those who are in immediate danger. Taking the view point of, if those who protect the common folk are protected, then they are protecting more than just those who fight with them.

TENETS OF RENEWAL

Though the exact words and strictures of the Oath of Renewal vary, paladins of this oath share these tenets.

Charity. Those with the ability to aid others should do so but not for personal gain.

Courage. You must be willing to do what needs to be done for the sake of order, even in the face of overwhelming odds. If you don’t act, then who will?

Honesty. Don’t lie or cheat. Let your word be your promise.

Honor. Treat others with fairness, and let your honorable deeds be an example to them. Do as much good as possible while causing the least amount of harm.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Preserve Life. You can use your Channel Divinity to heal the badly injured. As an action, evoke healing energy that can restore a number of hit points equal to five times your paladin level. Choose any creatures within 30 feet of you, and divide those hit points among them. This feature can restore a creature to no more than half of its hit point maximum. You can’t use this feature on an undead or a construct.

Salve Wounds. You can use your Channel Divinity to aid those in imminent danger. Immediately after a creature within 30 feet of you takes damage, you can use your reaction to half the damage taken. After damage is dealt, the creature gains temporary hit points equal to you paladin level for 1 minute.

Aura of Salvation

Beginning at 7th level, you and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you regain hit points, regain an additional 2 hit points.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Restorative Touch

Starting at 15th level, your lay on hands has become even more potent, gaining the ability to cleanse various ailments. Lay on hands gains the following effects:

Holy Prophet

At 20th level, you can emanate a holy energy that rejuvenates those around you. As an action, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • You gain 50 temporary hit points, which last for the duration of this effect.
  • You can cast spells with a range of tough and use your lay on hands at a range of 30 feet.
  • As a bonus action all creatures of you choice in your aura regain 2d6 hit points.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
