Base Class: Barbarian
You are a guardian a protector, your rage comes from your friends getting injured or killed.. were as your barbarian brothers and sisters would prefer a big ax or duel swords, you throw aside your weapon to bring a shield or even duel shields, you do this to protect your brothers and sisters at all costs even if it means you take the hits for them.
this is a defensive subclass that allows you to weaponize shields and protect the party
shield Warrior
at Level 3 when you take this path you have mastered the shield using it as an offensive weapon as well as a piece of armor although with this versatility you sacrifice its potential as a piece of armor
shields now only give you +1 to ac
shields are now considered a 1d4 light weapon which becomes a 1d6 at level 5, 1d8 at level 11, and 1d10 at level 17
Selfless Defense (this replaces reckless attack)
At 3rd level when you take this path you replace reckless attack with this ability
as a reaction you can use your shield to protect an ally with in 5ft giving them +2 ac untill your next turn also attacks targeting you have advantage untill your next turn
Mark of the Guardian
at 6th level as a bonus action you can mark a creature within 30ft any damage that creature takes is halfed and you take the half that they would have normally taken, as a bonus action you can move the mark to another creature, this mark lasts for 1 hour or untill you use a bonus action to remove it, you can do this once a short rest
at level 15 you can mark a total of 2 creatures
Concussive Blow
on a hit you can expend your bonus action to perform a concussive blow, the target makes a con saving throw (DC 8+proficiency+str mod) a fail they are stunned for a number of rounds equal to half your strength mod rounded down, creatures who are immune to the stun effect instantly pass this saving throw
you can do this a number of times equal to your strength mod before needing a short rest
Shield wall
at 14th level before you have moved you can take your action to form a shield wall while in this your movement speed is halfed and you count as full cover to any creature of your size or smaller that would be covered by you, you cannot attack while holding this formation and lastly your body has grown used to the constant punishment it receives, while holding this formation you regenerate HP equal to your con mod at the end of your turn.
this seems like it downgrades a lot of things. for example, a barbarian is not usually using a shield in the first place since they are using a two handed weapon. so what this subclass would do is incentivize you to use a weapon that does less damage, so that you can have a shield that gives you less ac and only does 1d4. the most damage you could be doing is 1d4+strength per turn, as opposed to 1d12+strength per turn. this just seems like you wanted to play a paladin that can rage without multiclassing
Subclass abilities generally dont replace abilities from the base class. This is just....weird
