Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Flowing Water are experts in storing the energy of their enemy's attacks and returning the damage with twice the force. They learn techniques that allow them to be flexible and elastic in combat.
Ebb and Flow
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can enter the defensive stance of Ebb and unleash devastating strikes using Flow.
Ebb
As a bonus action, you gain the option to spend 1 ki point to enter the defensive stance of Ebb. While in the defensive stance of Ebb you take half damage from any bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage and store the damage you would receive (before being reduced) until the end of your next turn.
Flow
On your turn when you hit with a melee attack you can choose to unleash the damage you have stored in Ebb and add it to the damage from the melee attack. Damage from Flow is considered the same as that of the melee attack.
Racing Current
At 6th level, you gain the ability to use the Racing Current technique.
As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point to use the Racing Current technique. While using the Racing Current technique for every 10ft in a straight direction you move you can add an extra monk die to your next melee attack.
Crashing Stream
At 11th level, you gain the ability to channel your ki into a blasting force of power. When you hit an opponent with your Flow technique and or your Racing Current technique you can choose to spend ki to force the target backward (2 ki points per 10 ft of movement with a max push movement of 30 ft).
The target must be no more than one size larger than you. If the strike would move the creature more than 10ft they get to make a Strength saving throw against your save DC. On a success, they are only moved 10ft, on a failure they are forced the full distance or until they hit terrain. If they hit terrain they suffer a d6 of bludgeoning damage per 10 feet of movement.
Mastery of Waves
At the 17th level, your mastery of Ebb makes entering the stance instinct. The Ebb defensive technique is activated automatically when in combat without the use of ki. When you make a melee attack against a creature, you don’t provoke opportunity attacks from that creature for the rest of the turn, whether you hit or not. When you hit a creature using your Flow technique you can spend 3 ki points to double the damage of Flow.
