Base Class: Ranger
Arcane Explorers seek out the unknown of the world, often venturing into far-off lands and unexplored tombs to learn of the secrets and artifacts hidden within the realm. They seek out magic and artifacts to study and protect from misuse, venturing to the far reaches of the world to satiate their thirst for knowledge and wonder. These explorers are often professors, museum curators, and advisors to various political councils due to their understanding of objects, places, and creatures that are beyond the normal pedigree.
Arcane Explorer Magic
Starting at 3rd level, you learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Arcane Explorer Spells table. The spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of ranger spells you know.
Arcane Explorer Spells
| Ranger Level | Spell |
|---|---|
| 3rd | Infuse Essence |
| 5th | Displace Matter |
| 9th | Barrage of Force |
| 13th | Dimension Door |
| 17th | Teleportation Circle |
Expert Archaeologist
At 3rd level, you've spent enough time delving into tomes and exploring vast expanses of the unknown for hidden treasures and artifacts that you inherently know what to look for and where. You gain proficiency in History and Investigation. If you are already proficient in either of these skills, you gain expertise.
Arcane Evoker
At 3rd level, you learn to draw on the energy of the arcane infused into the world around you.
As an action, you can use the Force Blast cantrip when attacking enemies. You can also cast detect magic as a ritual.
Arcane Boost
At 7th level, you learn to draw on the arcane to boost your agility in battle. When you hit an enemy with an arcane force spell, your movement speed increases by 10 feet for the duration of your turn.
Arcane Savant
At 11th level, you gain the ability to split the arcane energy you evoke through concentration and skill. When you evoke a Force Blast, you can split the force into three separate blasts, each doing 1d10 + spell casting modifier force damage on hit. At 17th level, you can split the blasts into four separate attacks.
Arcane Defense
At 15th level, your ability to control the arcane flow of magic around you provides a temporary shield to deflect blow that might otherwise harm you. When you are hit with an attack, you can use your reaction to cast the shield to deflect the blow.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
