Monk
Base Class: Monk

Some monks find focus in meditation, others in battle, and even some in drink. However, those that practice the Way of the Dancer dedicate themselves to rhythm and movement. Rather than a stationary order with a monastery, monks of this order can be found traveling in caravans, energizing commoners and kings alike to join in their revelry.

Born for the Stage

You gain proficiency in your choice of acrobatics or performance. If you already have proficiency in the skill you choose, you gain expertise in that skill instead.

Martial Performance

You learn to focus on several aspects of dancing, creating a single fluid performance. When you would roll initiative or as a bonus action during combat, you may begin a performance by choosing a focus to activate from the list below. Each focus gains additional benefits at 6th and 11th level, representing your growing mastery of the artform. Your performance lasts for 1 minute or until you stop dancing (no action needed). Only one focus may be active at a time, but you may switch between focuses as a bonus action during your performance:

Showmanship - When you activate this focus and as a bonus action while this focus is active, you may make an acrobatics(dexterity) or a performance(charisma) check resisted by insight(wisdom) against a creature that can see you. On a success, the creature is charmed by you. This effect lasts until the end of your next turn or the creature takes damage.

Flexibility - You may immediately move half your speed when you activate this focus. While this focus is active, you gain 10ft of movement speed and any effect that would reduce your movement speed to 0 instead reduces it by half.

Footwork - When you activate this focus and as a bonus action while this focus is active, you may attempt to trip a creature within 5ft of you. Make an opposed acrobatics(dexterity) or performance(charisma) check against acrobatics(dexterity) or athletics(strength), whichever is higher for the opposing creature. On a success, the creature is knocked prone.

You may begin a performance a number of times equal to your monk level divided by 4 (rounded up), and you gain back all uses of your performance on a short or long rest.

Engaging Rhythm

Your mastery of movement is so engaging that it inspires allies to join in. When you begin a performance and at the start of your turn during a performance, you may designate a dance partner. Dance partners recieve a benefit depending on the focus you activate. You may only have one dance partner active at a time, but you can replace one partner to designate a new one. This number increases at the 11th and 17th levels.

Showmanship - Any creature charmed by this effect is also charmed by your dance partner.

Flexibility - Your dance partner may also move half their speed upon activation of this focus. They also gain 10ft of movement speed while this focus is active, and any effect that would reduce their speed to 0 instead reduces it by half.

Footwork - While you and a dance partner are within 5ft of a creature and this focus is active, that creature has disadvantage on ability checks and saving throws.

Expert Dancer

You have spent your life studying, and you can finally see how rhythm is everywhere. You gain proficiency and expertise in both acrobatics and performance. If you already have these features, you do not gain them again. You may also use either dexterity or charisma when making ability checks with these skills.

Practice, Practice, Practice!

Your performance soars to new heights. Your focus become more complex and integrated, and you may now designate two dance partners whenever you initiate a performance.

Showmanship - When you charm a creature with this focus, it remains charmed throughout your performance even if you switch focuses. You may a have a number of creatures charmed at the same time equal to your monk level divided by 3. If a creature affected by this focus takes damage, this effect ends on that creature.

Flexibility - You and your dance partner have advantage on dexterity saving throws while this focus is active.

Footwork - You may activate this focus after hitting a creature with an opportunity attack. When you knock a creature prone while this focus is active, you may deal damage to that creature as if you hit it with an unarmed strike.

Master of Movement

You have blended the aspects of dance into a seamless tapestry, and your movements carry with them a lifetime of experience. You may now have several focuses active at once. You must still take the necessary action(s) to activate them. You may now also designate up to three dance partners.
