Practitioners of the Way of the Three Dragons follow in the footsteps of the founder of their style and employ techniques honed for conquering foes of all shapes and sizes, trained in grappling arts and how to weave grabs, unarmed strikes and throws together in a blur of martial skill, their style was formed when the first master observed the behaviours of the noble dragons and their kin, in time practitioners of this art achieve a mastery over their Ki that allows them complete control over their foes.

Coiling Wyrm Technique

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn the intricacies of manipulating joints and levering them using the momentum from your strikes. You gain the following ability:

  • You gain your Wisdom modifier to Grapple checks made against you.
  • You can use your reaction to make a grapple check against a creature within 5 feet who fails a melee attack against you.
  • You can use your Dexterity instead of Strength when attempting a grapple.

Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, You can impose one of the following effects:

  • You can move a creature you have grappled to any open space within 5 ft. of you, the creature cannot make opportunity attacks while moving to the space of your choice.
  • A creature you have grappled must make a Dexterity saving throw or be knocked prone using this effect ends the grapple.

Venom of the Wyvern

At 6th Level, you learn to interrupt the flow of your enemies' Ki in their limbs, reducing their combat effectiveness.  On a successful unarmed strike, you can spend 2 Ki points to instead produce numb your opponent's limbs : the target must make a Constitution saving throw or have disadvantage on weapon attacks and unarmed strikes until the end of your next turn,the target cannot perform spells that have a somatic component while this is in effect. Using this effect ends the grapple with the target.

 

Descent of the Dragon

At 11th Level, you learn to end your grapples with deadly throws, injuring and outmanoeuvring in one fell swoop. You can use your  bonus action to throw a grappled target. They must make a Dexterity saving throw or be knocked prone and take damage equal to your martial art's damage dice. additionally you can spend extra Ki points to increase the damage by 1d6 for each extra Ki point spent (to a maximum of 2). The grapple ends after damage is dealt.

Dance of the Three Dragons

At 17th level, you have attained true mastery of your ki, channelling it into your grappling to take down foes much greater in size, You gain the following abilities:

  • You can now grapple creatures up to two sizes higher than you (So a Medium character can grapple, A Large and Huge).
  • Your grapples can now target two creatures of equal size to you, provided they are both in range.
  • As an action you can spend four ki points to make creatures you are grappling gain vulnerability to the damage of the next attack dealt to them before the end of your next turn.
