Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Star Mount are almost exclusive Aarakocran and have dedicated their lives to the Shamanic worship and study of the innate energy that lies in the Sky. They understand that all of their deities live and breath the air that holds their wings aloft and are their students. They learn techniques to manipulate the wind around them and use it to both protect themselves, harm foes and commune with the deities and denizens of the sky.
The deities of the Aarakocran tribe of Star Mount are listed below. You have spent most of your life studying and learning about their nature and perfecting their teachings.
- Syranita: The Patron deity of Aarakocran
- Akadi: Queen of Air
- Remnis: God of Giant Eagles and Free Lord of the Sky
- Stronmaus: Giant god of sun, sky, weather, seas, and joy
- Aerdrie Faenya: Worshipped by all Aarakocran across Toril
Wind's Will
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate the currents of air around you, including focusing massive pressure at a single point and releasing it in one directed blast or a swirling maelstrom around you.
You learn the Gust cantrip and may use it in place of one of your attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows. Your spell casting ability is Wisdom and your spell save DC is 8 + your proficiency modifier + WIS.
Additionally once per turn when you take the Flurry of Blows action, you may use one of the following abilities:
- Force a creature or object that you have targeted with at least 3 unarmed attacks this round to make a Strength Saving throw against your spell save DC or be knocked away from you 5 feet and fall prone.
You may spend ki points to increase the distance the creature is knocked back by 5 feet and for every 1 additional ki point spent and the save DC by 2 points for every 2 additional ki points spent. - Spend 1 ki point to take the dodge action for free.
Eyes of Syranita
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you have learned to focus your gaze and channel the will of Syranita reading the land, sky and denizens of the sky.
You have Advantage to WIS(Perception) checks that rely on sight and CHA, WIS(Insight) and WIS(Animal Handling) checks when interacting with birds.
Additionally birds have Disadvantage to resist being charmed by you.
One With the Tempest
Your study of Akadi and Stronmaus have taught you how to harness the innate ki in the clouds, manipulating the energy around you to protect yourself or harm others.
At 6th Level, when you receive Lightning or Thunder damage, as a reaction you may spend 1 ki point to cast Absorb Elements at 3rd level.
At level 11 the level of the cast increases to 5 and at level 17 the level of the cast increases to 7.
Additionally your Slow Fall feature is always active, reduces all fall damage to zero, allows you to ignore all effects imposed by wind (magical or otherwise) and as an action you may spend 2 ki points to cast Warding Wind.
Aspect of Remnis
Beginning at 11th level you embrace the tenets of Remnis and learnt to assume his great form.
You gain the Form of Remnis ability, the sleep on the wing ability, the Eagle strike ability and you learn to speak Giant Eagle.
Form of Remnis:
As an action, you may spend 1 ki point to shapeshift into an Eagle or Giant Eagle. As a bonus action you may revert to your true form. You also revert to your true form if you drop to zero hit points. Any equipment you are wearing or carrying is absorbed or borne by the new form (your choice).
You retain your alignment, hit points, Hit Dice, proficiencies, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma scores and all skills. Your statistics are otherwise replaced by those of the new form.
Sleep on the Wing:
You may gain the benefits of a long rest if you fly, uninterrupted, for 8 hours. You may use this ability a number of times equal to your constitution modifier before you must take a long rest in the normal way.
Eagle Strike:
If you have moved at least 25ft in a straight line in this turn, as an action, you may move at least 50ft more in the same direction at a target creature that was lower than you at the start of your turn (relative to the pull of gravity). The creature may make a Wisdom(Perception) check to spot you, hear you, or otherwise sense your approach, the DC is equal to 8 + your Dexterity + your Proficiency (8 + your Stealth skill instead if you are proficient with Stealth). At the end of this movement, you may make one unarmed attack that is an automatic critical hit (do not roll to hit) if the creature is unaware of you.
If the creature is medium size or smaller and standing on a solid surface, it suffers an additional 5d6 bludgeoning damage if you hit them, as you pummel them into the ground. The surface they are standing on is dealt the same damage. The creature is then grappled by you.
Avatar of the Sky
At 17th level, you learn to perform the summoning dance of the Aarakocra alone and have truly learned the unending dance of life in the Sky.
Once per long rest, when you are in your true form, as long as you may move up to 25 feet for the duration, you may spend your full turn (actions and movement) to maintain concentration on your dance.
At the start of your next turn, if you maintained concentration and did not use your reaction, you may spend 5 ki points and summon an Air Elemental in an unoccupied space within 60 feet of you.
The Elemental takes it's turn immediately after you in the initiative order. It is friendly to you and obeys your spoken commands. It remains for 1 hour or until you dismiss it as a bonus action.
Additionally, your speed cannot be reduced unless grappled or restrained, you do not provoke attacks of opportunity, and you may spend 1 ki point to use your reaction to ignore one effect that would cause you to become restrained or paralyzed.
