Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Dance are performers and fighters alike. By bringing dancing techniques to the battlefield they are able to soften blows, move and attack unpredictably and also inspire their allies in the fray. Viewing their Ki as a rhythmic force, their are able to access that energy through the music and art, being a source of joy and revelries where they pass, as well as a deadly and beautiful warrior.
Dance Training
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Performance skills if you don't already have it. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability checks made that uses it.
Additionally, opportunity attacks against you have disadvantage, as you move unpredictably through the battlefield.
Enthralling Performance
Also at 3rd level, you can try to allure others with a graceful ki-powered performance. With your bonus action you can spend a number of ki points equal to your proficiency bonus and choose a number of creatures you can see within 60 feet equal to the number of ki points spent. Until the end of your next turn, that target has disadvantage on any attack roll that isn’t against you and have disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks made to perceive any creature other than you.
Inspiring Performance
Begginig at 6th level, you gain the ability to start a performance mid combat. Whenever you would roll initiative, you can enter a Dancing Stance with no actions required. This dance lasts for 1 minute and it ends early if you are incapacitated or if you dismiss it with a free action. Alternatively, you can spend 1 ki point to enter your Dancing Stance as a bonus action. While performing, you can add your Charisma modifier to your AC and you can expend 1 ki point to inspire a creature other than yourself within 60 feet that can see you as a bonus action. The creature gains one Inspiring Performance die, equal to your Martial Arts die. A creature can have only one Inspiring Performance die at a time.
Once within the next minute, the creature can roll the die and gain a benefit depending on which dancing style you are currently performing. You can change your dancing style at the start of each one of your turns, choosing from the following:
- The Shaking Monkey Dance: The creature can roll a Inspiration Performance die and add half of the number rolled (rounded up) to it's AC until it's next turn.
- Spinning Red Crane: The creature can roll a Inspiration Performance die to one ability check.
- Dance of the Tiger's Fury: The creature can roll a Inspiration Performance die and add the number rolled to one weapon or spell damage roll.
Improved Inspiring Performance
Starting at 11th level, you hone your crafts, learning new dancing styles and how to better implement them in your attacks. Whenever you use your Flurry of Blows, you can forgo one of your attacks to inspire an ally with no additional cost. Additionally, when choosing your dancing style for your Inspiring Performance feature, you can also choose from the following dance styles:
- Moonlit Ballet: The creature can roll a Inspiration Performance die and gain temporary hit points equal to the number rolled.
- The Horse's Gallop: The creature can roll a Inspiration Performance die and gain a bonus to it's movement speed equal to the number rolled until the end of it's next turn.
Dancing Dodge
Starting at 17th level, whenever you are in your Dancing Stance from the Inspiring Performance feature and an attacker that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to spend 1 ki point and halve the attack's damage against you. You also gain temporary hit points equal to half the damage taken from this attack.
