Those who follow the Stormlord are said to be unprecedented in battle, but it only falls to the truly devote who are able to fully embody the ideals of their lord. With fists that strike like lightning and blow with the force of thunder, monks who follow the Way of the Hurricane unleash the full might of nature's wrath. 

The Way of the Hurricane monks follow a rigorous battle code and devote themselves to the ideals of the Stormlord. While this archetype fits with most realms of existence with a God of Thunder, it can also be applied to any monestaries that follow the ways of Gods of War or Battle. Gods that fit this type of archetype include: Kord, Tempus, Keranos, Thor, Zeus, and Talos.

Thunderous Blows

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain the power to instill you attacks with the power of peels of thunder.

Before taking the Attack action, you can spend 1 ki point to gain the following benefits:

  • At 3rd level, the range of your attacks extends by 5 feet, and all damage from these attacks becomes thunder damage.
  • At 6th level, creature hit by your attacks lose their reaction until the end of your next turn.
  • At 11th level, creatures hit by your attacks take 1 additional Martial Arts die of damage.

Charged Step

At 6th level, you gain the ability to channel to speed of lightning into your movements. As an action, you can spend 3 ki points to activate this ability. As part of this action you can move up to your full movement speed, and even pass through other creatures without provoking attacks of opportunity. If you move through another creature's space as part of this ability you can make one unarmed attack against said creature. On a hit this unarmed strike does 3 Martial Arts dice worth of damage + Str or Dex modifier and the attacks does lightning damage. A creature can only be targeted with this attack once per turn.

Static Strikes

Starting at 11th level, the power of the Stormlord further fuels your stunning powers. When you hit a creature that has already been stunned by your Stunning Strikes, you can use your ki to further debilitate them. Spend 1 kit point, the stunned creature must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save the creature is now paralyzed until the end of your next turn.

Eye of the Storm

At 17th level, your devotion to the rites of battle and the path of the Stormlord have lead you to become a force of nature in your own right. As an action, you can spend 1 kit point to force the enemies around you to feel the full power of the storm. All creatures within 15ft of you must make a Dexterity saving throw, on a failed save the creature takes 1 Martial Arts die + Str or Dex modifier worth of thunder or lightning damage (your choice) and are knocked prone. Additionally you can spend additional kit points (up to a maximum of 5) to add additional Martial Arts dice to the damage of this action.
