Monk
Base Class: Monk

You have blood magic that allows you to temporarily control others, though it takes a considerable amount of effort to do so.

The Monk Confessor History

The long forgotten ability to turn a mind to obey your commands using the power of your own mind and blood without arcane magic is a rarity in the world today. Most people who have even heard of confessors believe it is just a myth or a legend told to young children to keep them in line and obey their parents.

Confessors abilities are usually passed down from family member to family member as it is a blood ability. The ability usually surfaces in female lines but it is not unheard of for a male to inherit these traits.

A select few monasteries still contain the ancient text that helped the monks hone their minds and body's to be able to Confess a humanoid creature.

**NOTE: This subclass of monk cannot wear any type of glove or the Confessor’s Touch ability does not work at all.**

Confessors Touch

Beginning at 3rd level you have the ability to touch a creature whose intelligence is an 8 or above and put them under your control for a period of time.

As a combined Action and Bonus Action on a turn, you may make a Melee Unarmed Strike and try and touch the neck or head of a humanoid. If the attack hits, the target may then make a WIS Saving throw. On a failure the target is under the effects of the Dominate person spell (not requiring concentration) for the duration. Except for one change, if the target takes damage and they are within 10 feet of you they have disadvantage on the saving throw. You may  only have 1 target under your confessor’s touch at a time.

When you use this ability and the effect works you take 1 point of exhaustion. By spending 2 Ki points when you use this ability you can nullify the exhaustion during your next short or long rest.

Whenever you have a creature under your Confessor’s Touch you automatically succeed on any Wisdom (insight) checks interacting with the target.

You also gain expertise in the Wisdom (Insight) Skill.

Blood Ki

At 6th level, you can target a hidden cluster of nerves on a humanoid with precision, temporarily causing them to become mentally open to your influence. If you hit a humanoid with an unarmed attack, you can spend 1 ki point to force them to make a Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is unable to speak a deliberate lie and all Charisma checks directed at the creature are made with advantage for up to 10 minutes. You know if they succeeded or failed on their saving throw. On a success, nothing happens.

An affected creature is aware of the effect and can thus avoid answering questions to which it would normally respond with a lie. Such a creature can be evasive in its answers as long as the effect lasts.

Heightened Confessors Touch

At 6th level you have the ability to touch a humanoid whose intelligence is an 8 or above and put them under your control for up to 6 hours.

When you use this ability at this level and the effect works you take 1 point of exhaustion. By spending 3 Ki points when you use this ability you can nullify the exhaustion during your next short or long rest.

As part of this heightened ability you also begin to understand, read, and write one language of one humanoid you have confessed.

Confessors Influence

Your friends are protective of you. Starting at 11th level, when you are the target of a melee attack, a single ally that is closest to you, or confessed by you, within 5 feet of the attacking creature it can use its reaction to grab the attention of the attacking creature, and become the target of their attack instead.

If a person you have confessed is farther than 5 feet, up to its movement speed from you, you can use your reaction to direct it to immediately use its reaction and move up to its speed towards you and become the target of the attack.

Empowered Confessors Touch (Additional)

At 11th level you have the ability to touch a humanoid whose intelligence is an 8 or above and put them under your Confessors Touch for up to 12 hours.

When you use this ability at this level and the effect works you take 2 points of exhaustion. By spending 6 Ki points when you use this ability you can nullify all your exhaustion during your next short or long rest.

As part of this heightened ability you also begin to understand, read, and write one additional language of one humanoid you have confessed.

Blood Rage

Upon reaching 17th level whenever you use your True Confessors ability and are hit by an attack within 1 minute you go into a blood rage and you immediately use your reaction to attack the nearest hostile creature to you. On each of your turns for the next minute you can only take the attack action on the nearest hostile creature. When attacking you make 4 melee attacks. While attacking a roll of 19 or 20 is considered a critical hit and your AC is increased by +2.

If you are not attacked within one minute of doing a True Confession you do not go into a blood rage.

True Confessor's Touch (Additional)

At 17th level you have the ability to touch a creature whose intelligence is an 8 or above and put them under your Confessors Touch permanently. When you use this ability successfully you immediately take 4 points of exhaustion. If you spend all your remaining Ki points and rest for a full 24 hours all your levels of exhaustion are removed. If not, you must take the normal rest to recover from your exhaustion.

You also learn one additional language known by anyone you have used your Confessors Touch on.
