Base Class: Rogue
As a Sniper you are gifted at ranged combat, picking out an enemies weak points and attacking with deadly accuracy and power.
At the 3rd level when you choose this archetype you gain the following features: Archery Fighting Style, Tools of the Trade and Sniper’s Eyes.
Archery
You gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls you make with ranged weapons.
Tools Of The Trade
You gain proficiency with all simple and martial ranged weapons in addition all ranged weapon ranges are doubled for you.
Sniper’s Expertise
You gain proficiency in the Perception and Survival skills, when you use these skills double your proficiency bonus.
Sniper’s Nest
At the 9th level you have developed a keen eye for discovering tactically advantageous positions such as abandoned bell towers, the tops of tall trees or overhangs on a cliff face. You can spend 1 hour outside of combat constructing and camouflaging a Sniper’s Nest. Your DM will tell you if a space is appropriate for a Sniper’s Nest. While in your nest you gain the following benefits.
- you need half as much food and sleep to sustain yourself
- you can see up to one mile away with no difficulty, able to discern even fine detail as though looking at something no more than 100 feet away from you. Additionally you have advantage on perception checks for hostile creatures
- you are invisible
Theses benefits end when you leave your nest, attack or cast a spell.
Steady Hands
At the 13th level you have learned to control your breathing and heart rate for extra precision. On your turn as a bonus action you can control your body to gain advantage on ranged attacks until the beginning of your next turn. You can use this ability up to your wisdom modifier (minimum once) and regain all uses when you finish a long rest.
Overwatch
At the 17th level your senses have become attuned to your enemy’s movement allowing you to take advantage of moments when they break cover. When an enemy within 60 feet of you that you can see uses 5 feet of their movement speed or more you can use your reaction to make a single ranged attack targeting that enemy.
Might be a little necroposting here sorry, but I believe the author made a typo and meant to say "Sniper's Expertise". That or the ability "Sniper's Expertise" is misnamed, but I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be the same thing.
What are sniper eyes? I thought it had a description previously but I cannot see what it does anymore. The previous comments are good suggestions and if I have to create my own private copy of this subclass to fix that I will include those.
Tbh I feel like a sniper should have something like the ability assassins get, so every hit they score against an enemy thats 200 feet or more away is a critical hit. This would probably balance out the whole "most of your abilities are centered around you being really far away" and gives a more sniper-ish feel to it, since the whole thing with snipers in real life is that you're basically dead if one spots you and hits you.
With tools of the trade, instead of double it should be, "You can use a ranged weapon's long range without imposing disadvantage. If you have the sharpshooter feat, or gain it after gaining tools of the trade, the original benefit is replaced with doubling the weapon's range."
