You are a community member of your home town/city. You are an honest worker or common person that does their best to help their community and make a decent living from your trade. It isn't unusual to see you out and about doing tasks for others or using your skills in a place of trading items rather than money. You are always at constant odds or are displeased by your nobles who usually exploit your fellow compatriots.
- Skill Proficiencies: Insight, Persuasion, Medicine
- Tool Proficiencies: Two types of any artisan's tools with an added tool of proficiency
- Languages: One of your choice
- Equipment: A two sets of tools (two of your choice), a badge that symbolizes your importance to your community, a set of traveler’s clothes, and a pouch containing 10 gp
Guilds are generally found in cities large enough to support several artisans practicing the same trade. However, your guild might instead be a loose network of artisans who each work in a different village within a larger realm. Work with your DM to determine the nature of your guild. You can select your guild business from the Guild Business table or roll randomly.

As an established and respected member of a guild, you can rely on certain benefits that membership provides. Your fellow guild members will provide you with lodging and food if necessary, and pay for your funeral if needed. In some cities and towns, a guildhall offers a central place to meet other members of your profession, which can be a good place to meet potential patrons, allies, or hirelings.
Guilds often wield tremendous political power. If you are accused of a crime, your guild will support you if a good case can be made for your innocence or the crime is justifiable. You can also gain access to powerful political figures through the guild, if you are a member in good standing. Such connections might require the donation of money or magic items to the guild’s coffers.
You must pay dues of 5 gp per month to the guild. If you miss payments, you must make up back dues to remain in the guild’s good graces.

Contacts
You may roll on the Contacts table for 2 different contacts. This can be your guild leader, union leader, mentor or a town elder/city council member that you have personal ties with.

1 | Guild Leader |
2 | Union Leader |
3 | Town Elder/City Council Member |
4 | Mentor |
Not many guilds have them but some have had a few confident workers get together and form a union. Usually at odds with leaders of the guilds, they fight for better guild dues and benefits from working with the guild. Work with your DM to determine the nature of your guild.
As an established union member you rely on added services as well as the ones from your guild. The added benefits is a small network of fellow workers/artisans that will take you in even when behind on dues. Offer deals on any wears you have and/or help make a case with the guild leaders to restore any lost membership. Unions sometimes can go against the guilds political stances, if a part of a union this can put you at odds with political allies of your guild which could hinder any help the guild would help with. However the union will always stand by you, despite its size, the power of its voice is always heard.
Along with guild membership dues you must pay an added 1 gp a month to keep union added benefits. If you miss payments, you may work out a counter deal with union leadership.
