Monk
Base Class: Monk

Through rituals and training you have learned to bend earth to your will. Earth is the element of substance. The people who follow this monastic tradition are diverse, strong, and enduring. The key to bending earth involves waiting and listening for the right moment to strike and, when that moment comes, acting decisively. In other words, monks generally endure their enemies' attacks until the right opportunity to counterattack reveals itself.

Elemental Novice

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn to bend earth to your will. As an action, you can choose a portion of nonmagical dirt or stone that you can see within 60 feet and that fits within a 5-foot cube. You manipulate it in one of the following ways:
  • If you target an area of loose earth, you can instantaneously excavate it, move it along the ground, and deposit it up to 5 feet away. This movement doesn’t have enough force to cause damage.
  • You cause shapes, colors, or both to appear on the dirt or stone, spelling out words, creating images, or shaping patterns. The changes last for 1 hour.
  • If the dirt or stone you target is on the ground, you cause it to become difficult terrain. Alternatively, you can cause the ground to become normal terrain if it is already difficult terrain. This change lasts for 1 hour.
  • You can lift an amount of earth into the air or lift something supported by said earth equal to how much you can physically lift (weight in pounds up to double your carrying capacity or 30 times your strength score).

When you reach 6th level you can choose earth within 80 feet and fits within a 10-foot cube, at 11th level you can choose earth within 100 feet and fits within a 20-foot cube, and at 17th level you can choose earth within 120 feet and fits within a 40-foot cube.

Casting Elemental Spells
You have also learned the ability to cast certain spells. You must be surrounded by some form of earth to cast any of these spells. You use its casting time and other rules, but you only need somatic components to cast them. For any spells with concentration, you must use a bonus action to continue using somatic components to help maintain concentration. You can use additional ki points to cast the spell as a higher-level spell. The maximum number of ki points you can spend to cast a spell in this way (including its base ki point cost and any additional ki points you spend to increase its level) is equal to half your monk level.
You can cast the following spells for 2 ki each: Earth Tremor and Shield.

Earth Strike

You gain a new attack option you can use with the Attack action. This special attack can be a melee spell attack or a ranged spell attack with a range of 30 feet. You are proficient with it, and you add your Dexterity modifier to its attack and damage rolls. Its damage can be bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing (chosen before the attack) and its damage die is a d4. This die changes as you gain monk levels, as shown in the Martial Arts column of the Monk table. To use this attack there must be at least a cubic foot of some form of earth near you.
When you take the Attack action on your turn and use this special attack as part of it, you can spend 1 ki point to make the special attack twice as a bonus action.
When you gain the Extra Attack feature, this special attack can be used for any of the attacks you make as part of the Attack action.
When your reach 6th level your range increases to 40 feet, at 11th level it increases to 50 feet, and at 17th level it increases to 60 feet.

Elemental Adept

Beginning at 6th level you can cast the following spells for 3 ki each: Dust Devil, LevitateMaximilian’s Earthen Grasp
You have also learned how to grapple a target at range with your Earth Strike. For this ranged grapple you use a Wisdom check that you are proficient in contested by the target's Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check (the target chooses the ability to use). If you succeed, you subject the target to the grappled condition.

Earthen Armor

Starting at 6th level, you learn to bring rocks, dust, pebbles, or crystals around you and mold them to fit your body and create something similar to armor. As a bonus action you can spend 4 ki points to increase your unarmored defense by 3 and gain resistance to fire damage for 1 minute. However, while surrounded by your earth armor you are unable to use your unarmored movement.

Elemental Expert

Beginning at 11th level, you can also cast the following spells for 4 ki each: Erupting Earth, Meld Into Stone, and Wall of Sand.

Seismic Sense

You have become accomplished in the ways waiting for the right moment to strike. Starting at 11th level, you gain tremorsense out to a range of 30 feet, and with that you also gain advantage on Wisdom(Insight) check on creatures within 30 feet. As a reaction when you are about to be hit by a melee attack you can impose disadvantage on the roll. If the attack misses you can then spend 1 ki and make an Attack on the source of the melee attack.

Elemental Grand Master

Beginning at 17th level you can cast Stone Shape for 5 ki and cast Transmute Rock and Wall of Stone for 6 ki. You also gain the ability to cast Move Earth once per long rest.

Earth Dominion

You have learned the finesse of controlling the tiniest fragments of earth found in other forms of matter. You learn to control impenetrable metal or scorching lava.

Lava Supremacy

Your Earth Strike deals an extra 1d10 fire damage. As an action you can spend 2 ki to turn an area of earth into lava. This area can consist of up to four 5-foot squares of earth. A creature takes 6d10 fire damage when it enters lava for the first time on a turn or when it ends its turn there.

Metal Manipulation

You learn how to bend nonmagical metal to you will. Your earth strike can use 0.5 cubic feet of metal instead of a cubic foot of earth.  When you have your earthen armor equipped you can use a bonus action and spend 4 ki to become resistant to all forms of damage except psychic damage.
