Quickstep

At 3rd level, when you are attacked while in Patient Defence, you may use your reaction to make a 5 foot Quickstep. The Quickstep does not affect whether the triggering attack hits or misses, but does not provoke opportunity attacks.

You gain the ability to Quickstep multiple times as part of the same reaction when you reach certain monk levels. At 5th level, you can Quickstep up to 2 times, 3 times at 11th level, and 4 times at 17th level.

Essence of Brawling

Beginning at 3rd level, once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can impose one of the following effects on the target:

  • It must make a Strength saving throw or fall prone.
  • It must make a Dexterity saving throw or be grappled.

Beast Mode

By 6th level, you are able to draw upon hidden reserves of strength to infuse your strikes with extreme power. By expending 1 ki point, you enter Beast Mode until the start of your next turn. While you are in Beast Mode, your attacks have disadvantage but do maximum damage if they hit, and you cannot be forced to move or fall prone. Additionally, when you attempt to inflict the grappled or prone condition while in Beast Mode, the target has disadvantage on the saving throw.

Finishing Blows

At 11th level, you are able to ruthlessly capitalize on an enemy's moment of weakness. Once per turn, you may spend 2 ki points to perform a Finishing Blow on a prone, grappled, stunned, or incapacitated enemy within range. The Finishing Blow uses either of the following techniques:

Essence of Crushing: You hit the target with a devastating attack which does bludgeoning damage equal to 4 times your current Martial Arts die.

Essence of Throwing: You throw or kick the target into an unoccupied space up to 15 feet away from you. The target and everyone within 5 feet of them must make a Dexterity saving throw or take bludgeoning damage equal to 2 times your current Martial Arts die, or half as much on a success

Tiger Drop

Starting at 17th level, when an attacker misses you with a melee attack you can spend your reaction to immediately counterattack them with an unarmed strike, as long as you are not in Patient Defense. If your attack hits, you do maximum damage. Being in Beast Mode does not impose disadvantage on Tiger Drop counterattacks.
