Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Akin to Eldritch Knights the Arcane Analyst focuses on the study of magic but to a degree higher then its counterpart. The Arcane Adept is typically someone whose been affected by magic in some catastrophic way whether it be a failed experiment, magical detonation, a ritual gone wrong, etc.... While unlike the Eldritch Knights the Arcane Analysts lack the ability to cast any spells themselves aside from a few bolstering spells that change their tag to "self" they are still a force to be reckoned with. Instead of having a wide variety they harness and draw upon the stored magic coursing through their systems in ways that can greatly alter their physical form or even give them the upper hand in battle. These Scholars are seen as outsiders and even looked down upon as being monstrous as if one fails to let this magic loose in some form it can cause a great backlash to the host. It is not uncommon to see these individuals as scholars more so then fighters as they study their opponents in great, sometimes even self detrimental, ways.

(The leveling on how you are to play this subclass is a little different then the actual fighter type as it's meant to make it more fair with other players in mind while keeping it fair to the player of this subclass. If you have a problem with the structuring of levels and feel like you are behind feel free to change it up and talk to your DM about it. Its my brainchild but the more that use it the merrier)

Strategic Defense

After years of tutelage you know when to strike true, when to shore up your defense, and what spells you need to avoid lest you suffer another catastrophe.

When you take this subclass you gain the use of an additional reaction.

If you were to get hit with a weapon attack you can be on guard and gain a bonus of +2 to your AC for that attack, or similarly if you are suffering an affect from a spell that requires a spell save you can add +4 bonus to the save using your vast knowledge of spells and their ill affects.

Selective "Casting"

As a means to focus more on the battlefield you have left yourself open physically more then mentally. As such you will be further behind the average fighter and not gain the multi-attack action until 8th level. With this stipulation you do gain certain benefits being a list of spells that you have limited "castings" of that can only be targeted on yourself determined by level.

Upon Reaching each of these levels you will gain 2 uses of either/both of the spells effects.

As an example at 1st level you can either cast Shield twice, Mage Armor twice, or each once.

Concentration still applies

1st Level I  Shield / Mage Armor

3rd Level I  Enlarge/Reduce / Magic Weapon

5th Level I Haste / Intellect Fortress

  • Your AC increases by 2 as your skin thickens and grows.
  • Any weapon you use grows to match your new size and deals and additional 1D4 damage

Supernatural Swelling

Beginning at 8th level the power within you grows to levels that must be expelled faster then you can manage. As you reach this new stage of growth you feel the magic inside you improve upon the abilities you've been "blessed" with. As the transformative state you enter with Arcane Whiplash grows to be more potent you unlock new abilities with it.

Your bonus to AC increases to +4

Cascading Exertion

At 12th level you begin to feel the power inside you, and while it feels constant and overpowering its not full. You gain the use of the Counterspell and Dispel Magic spells. Whenever you use these spells to stop a magic affect you feel the storm inside you boil as more power is added to it. It is up to you're DM to determine if you've hit past a critical point. What happens after that is no longer in your hands if you put yourself through this process.

You gain a use of this ability a number of times equal to half your fighter level rounded down (Six at level 12).

The highest form you can use is one at 6th, two at 5th, and three at 4th
