Base Class: Monk
The nothern styles of martial arts have been developing several animal styles to outperform their foes. This hard to master techniques allow their users to exploit their foes weaknes or improve their own senses.
This class still work in progress to work with the character manager of DND Beyond.
Animal Stances
3rd-Level Way of the Way of the Xinyiquan
You have learn technique to adopt three basic stances: Tiger, Snake and Eagle. As a bonus action, you can adopt or change one of these stances. The effect of the stances last 1 minute and ends early if you fall incapacitated,
Tiger. Once on every one of your turns, when you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, the target takes extra damage equal to your proficency bonus.
Snake. When a creature at 5 ft. of you misses an attack against you, you can use your reaction to make an unarmed strike against that creature.
Eagle. You gain proficency with the Atheltics and Perception skills if you don't already have it. Your proficency bonus is doubled for this skills.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. While you have no uses available, you can spend 1 ki points to use this feature again.
Empowered Stances
6th-Level Way of the Way of the Xinyiquan
You have mastered your stances and now you can now empower your technique. You gain the following options while you are adopting the Tiger, Sake or Eagle stances.
Tiger. When you hit a target with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to cause the attack to deal extra damage to the target equal to your Martial Arts die. You can use this feature only once on each of your turns.
Snake. When a creature at 5 ft. of you misses an attack against you, you can spend 1 ki point and use your reaction to make two unarmed strikes against that creature instead of one .
Eagle. If you fail an Athletics or Perception check, you can use your reaction to spend 1 ki point and reroll the check. You must use the new roll.
Expert Stance
11th-Level Way of the Xinyiquan
You have become a master of the previous stances and you can learn once more a new technique. Choose one of the following stances to learn it.
Bear Stance
As a bonus action, you can enter the bear stance. When you enter this stance you gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your monk level. This temporary hit points last until your bear stance ends.
Empowered. Whenever you hit a creature with an unarmed strike while in bear stance, you can spend 2 ki points to gain a number of temporary hit points up to the damage dealt by the attack.
Monkey Stance
As a bonus action, you can enter the monkey stance. While you mantain you monky stance, you gain a +2 bonus to your AC and Dexterity Saving Throws.
Empowered. Whenever a creature at 5 ft. of you hits you with an attack roll while in monkey stance, as a reaction you can spend 1 ki point to grant yourself a bonus to your AC equal to your proficiency bonus against that attack roll, potentially causing it to miss roll.
Swallow Stance
As a bonus action, you can enter the swallow stance. While in this stance, you gain 5 ft. extra movement speed and Oportunity Attacks agaisnt you have disadvantage.
Empowered. Whenever you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 2 ki point to muddle that creature. The target has disadvantage on weapon attack rolls it makes before the end of its next turn.
Dragon Stance
17th-Level Way of the Xinyiquan
You have mastered the techniques and reach balance between your body and your soul. Reaching this balance has prepared you to learn the dragon stance. You gain the following benefits:
- Whenever you use the Flurry of Blows feature, you can make three unarmed strikes instead of two.
- You have andvantage on saving throws against effects that cause frightened or charmed.
In adition, as a bonus action you can enter the dragon stance. This stance grants you the following benefits:
- You have advantage on attack rolls made with your unarmed strikes during your turn.
- You can roll a d12 in place of the normal damage of your unarmed strike or monk weapon.
- You have andvantage on saving throws against effects that cause any of the following conditions: blinded, deafened, paralyzed or stunned.
Once you enter this stance, you can’t do it again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend 4 ki points to enter it again.
