Base Class: Monk
Silently he watches as his comrades move with astounding speed during their drills, landing blow after blow with precision and grace, yet he does not join. No, he could never match their speed, but they will never match his might. Instead, he trains the Ki in his body to generate strength and abrupt violent actions. He does not wear the traditional monk robes, for he has mastered the ability to maneuver in heavy armor. His armor is not only an extension of his skin, but it is also one of his most deadly weapons.
This subclass is intended to be an unarmed STR based Monk that utilizes heavy armor and does not use shields, martial weapons, or simple weapons.
Meteor Strike / Unmoving Resolve
- Starting at level 3 you gain the following benefits:
- You may utilize all of the level 1 "Martial Arts" abilities, even while wearing heavy armor
- Meteor Strike: Flurry of Blows now turns into 1 single attack as a bonus action instead of 2 attacks
- If Meteor Strike hits the target, the base damage is equal to double the monk unarmed strike chart based on level, it is able to crit, and you may choose to impose one of the following effects on the target:
- The target must make a STR save or be knocked prone
- The target must makea STR save or be pushed up to 15 ft. away from you
- DC = 8 + proficiency bonus + WIS modifier
- Unmoving Resolve: Unarmored Movement now turns into Unmoving Resolve and you gain the following benefits:
- Level 3: You cannot be moved (pushed/shoved) against your will
- Level 5: You no longer have disadvantage for stealth rolls while wearing heavy armor
- Level 10: You man add your STR modifier into your AC while wearing heavy armor (Max +2)
- Level 14: Add +15 to your movement speed while wearing heavy armor
- Level 18: You may add your STR modifier into your AC while wearing heavy armor (Max +4)
Ki Empowered Strikes / Siege Breaker
Starting at 6th level, you gain the following benefits:
- Your unarmed strikes count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
- Siege Breaker: As a bonus action, you gather Ki within your body to expand your physical presence. You may spend 2 Ki points to cast Enlarge on yourself. This can be done once per short or long rest and does not require concentration to maintain.
Deep Impacts
- Starting at 11th level you gain the following benefits:
- Your study of Ki enables you to see an enemy’s vulnerable points more easily, allowing you to critically hit on 19 and 20
- Also, you can roll one additional damage die when determining the extra damage for a critical hit with Meteor Strike
Ki Implosion
- At 17th level you gain the following benefit:
- After landing a hit on your target, you can choose to infuse your strike with enough Ki to cripple your enemy, temporarily lowering their AC until the end of your next turn.
- You may choose to spend 4 Ki to lower the target's AC by -2
- Or, you may choose to spend 6 Ki to lower the target's AC by -3
- After landing a hit on your target, you can choose to infuse your strike with enough Ki to cripple your enemy, temporarily lowering their AC until the end of your next turn.
