Way of the Skin-changer

The Way of the Skin-changer teaches its students to channel their ki to unleash the beast from within themselves. Over time, these monks will be able to fully transform into the beasts that their spirits embody the most. These forms can vary between those who follow this tradition.

Minor Transformation

Channeling your inner beast spirit has altered your body in minor ways. Starting at 3rd level, when you use your Flurry of Blows feature, you can change the damage type from Bludgeoning to Slashing or Piercing for each attack as your clawed hands and feet or sharpened teeth rip into your enemies. In addition, as an action, you can spend 1 ki point to heighten your senses to beastial levels for a number of minutes equal to your monk level. For the duration, you have advantage on Perception checks that rely on hearing or smell and you gain Darkvision up to 60'. If you already have Darkvision from a racial trait, it increases by an additional 60'.

Spirit Bond

Starting at 6th level, you can summon forth your spiritual connection as an external force. As an action, you can spend 3 ki points to call forth an avatar of your beast spirit. The spirit takes the form of a beast of your choice but cannot exceed CR 1. It is considered Fey and is friendly towards you and your companions and obeys your commands (no action for you). In combat it takes it's turns before of after yours (your choice) and lasts for 1 min or until HP reduced to 0 or dismissed as a bonus action. In addition, the creature's stats utilize your Proficiency bonus instead of the creature's and its HP and AC increase equal to your Proficiency bonus. Any attacks the spirit makes deal Force damage.

Enhanced Spirit Bond

Starting at 11th level, you can summon even stronger spirits to aid you. When you spend ki points to activate your Summon Spirit feature, you can spend any number of additional ki points to increase the duration of the spirit animal by 1 min for each expended ki point and the CR of the spirit animal by 1 for each expended ki point. All the same rules for the spirit apply.

Frenzied Attack

Also starting at 11th level, when you successfully hit during your Flurry of Blows, the target must make a WIS Save against your Save DC. On a failure, the target is frightened of you until the start of your next turn. If your spirit animal is active and in sight of the target when it fails the Saving Throw, the target is also frightened of your spirit animal for the duration in addition to you.

Full Transformation

While your spirit animal is active, as an action, you can fuse together. Your spirit must be within 60' of you (does not require sight) and when activated, you can choose to teleport to the spirit's space or the spirit to your space. Your fused form lasts for the remaining duration of the spirit's summoning but while fused, you have access to the ki points that were used to summon the spirit. Any unspent ki points gained in this way are lost at the end of the duration.
