Base Class: Sorcerer
Whether it was an experiment gone awry or pure addiction to feeding off the weave, you now have to survive and grow by consuming magic. Some are ashamed, some are proud, but what will you be? Will you try and consumer artifacts and magic in secret, or turn your flaw into a strength and a force to be reckoned with?
Arcane Magic
Arcane Magic
You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Arcane Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.
Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must an abjuration or transmutation spell from the sorcerer, warlock, or wizard spell list.
Arcane Spells
| Sorcerer Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 1st | Shield, Absorb Elements |
| 3rd | Enhance Ability, Knock |
| 5th | Dispel Magic, Counterspell |
| 7th | Banishment, Modenkainen’s Private Sanctum |
| 9th | Telekinesis, Passwall |
Arcane Ward
1st-level Arcane Addict feature
Your connection to the weave and the hunger for magic drives to protect you during battle. Whenever you use your sorcerer points to create a spell, use a spell to create sorcerer points, or spend sorcerer points on your metamagic, you empower yourself until the end of your next turn gaining +1 AC per sorcery points spent/gained. Gaining new stacks refreshes the duration of the Arcane Ward.
Arcane Barrage
1st-level Arcane Addict feature
Your arcane magic overwhelms you the more you feed on it, and the protective magic you wield yearns to be free.
When ‘Arcane Ward’ is active, as a bonus action, roll a spell attack against an enemy you can see within 30 feet of your original target, dealing damage equal to your stacks of ‘Arcane Ward’. You can use this feature to do damage a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.
Desperate Consumption
6th-level Arcane Addict feature
Your thirst for power keeps growing and you cannot get enough, you start destroying the arcane weave of incoming spells in the hope that it’ll feed and sustain you.
At 6th level, you gain the ability to absorb the power of a successfully counterspelled or dispelled spell within 30ft of you, gaining stacks of ‘Arcane Ward’ equal to the spell level countered or dispelled.
Additionally, when using this feature, you may regain a spell slot equal to half the spell’s level, or sorcery points equal to that spell’s level. You can use this feature a number of times equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounded down), and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Weave & Redirect
14th-level Arcane Addict feature
You understand the advanced ways of the weave and learn how to unravel and redirect spells in order to feed on and destroy those who oppose you.
In addition to your reaction of countering a spell, you can instead redirect the spell at the original caster using 4 sorcery points. When this ability triggers, it also activates your ‘Arcane Ward’, giving you stacks equal to the spell level you are redirecting (but not for the sorcery points you are using).
You can use this feature equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Transcendental Hunger
18th-level Arcane Addict feature
You have learned to consume so much energy that it can revive you from death’s brink. You have consumed so much magical potential throughout your lifetime, you found a way to avoid death temporarily.
Upon falling to 0 hit points, you can spend 5 sorcery points to come back to 1 hit point and thwart death. Every time you use this ability, the amount of sorcery points required to spend increase by 1. This ability does not trigger ‘Arcane Ward’. This ability resets to the normal cost after a long rest.
Once the cost reaches your character level, your character implodes from the build-up of weave inside of them, dealing 50d20 damage in a 200ft radius. If this occurs, your character is permanently dead.
