Base Class: Wizard
While bards may be best known for caterwauling and hollering about, no bard can truly compete with the amount of noise a wizard can make when truly pressed. The School of Sound is almost entirely devoted to loud booms and putting those who dare question the validity of this arcane science into a silenced stupor. Or they've just gone deaf.
Harmonic Reverbration
Starting at second level, your studies have revealed a way to imbue your shouts with arcane energy, setting their bodies susceptible to bursts of thunder. As a bonus action, one creature you can see within 60ft. must make a Constitution saving throw vs. your spell save DC. A failed save makes the target vulnerable to thunder damage, and the next time they take thunder damage within the next minute, they are deafened for 1 minute. A creature deafened this way is still treated as being able to hear your spells. You may use this features a number of times equal to your intelligence modifier (minimum 1). You regain all uses of this feature on a long rest.
Instrument Proficiency
You gain proficiency with one musical instrument of your choice.
Magnify Voice
Starting at sixth level, you begin manipulating sound waves within and around yourself, causing bursts of sound to effect larger areas. Once per short rest, when you cast a spell of first level or higher that deals thunder damage in an area, you may double the size of that spells target area. (For example, Thunderwave affects a 30ft cube, instead of a 15ft cube)
Stable Tone
You also have mastered a base volume, and can magically force your voice to be heard in extreme conditions. You cannot be silenced except by magical means. If you enter an area affected by a silence spell, you may attempt a constitution saving throw (DC 10 + Spell level OR the casters spell save DC, whichever is higher) to be able to cast spells with verbal components regardless of the spell. This does not negate the rest of the Silence spell.
Discordance
At 10th level you discover the ability to prevent sound entirely within your victims. Your Harmonic Reverbration feature now also prevents the target from making any sound other than groans or grunts for one minute on a failed save, making casting spells with verbal components impossible.
Rupture
At 14th level you uncover the ability cause thunderous spells to reverberate in your victims very core! When you cast a spell of first level or higher that deals thunder damage, you may add the following to that spells effect:
-
Targets must make a constitution saving throw Vs. your spell save DC or have disadvantage imposed on any dexterity and constitution saving throws and attack rolls for 1 minute.
You may use this feature twice per long rest.
Bottomless Lungs
The number of times you may use your Harmonic Reverbration feature is now doubled.
