Bard
Base Class: Bard

Songs serve many purposes in the world. Some herald good news, and others evoke joy and celebration. Some songs, however, are used in times of grief and sorrow. Bards of the College of Dirges take on this noble duty. They sing mournful songs to guide and welcome a passed soul into the next life.

Elegia

As an entrant to the College of Dirges at 3rd level, you have been trained to perform solemn songs of grief and sorrow. When a creature would make an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, you may use your reaction to sing a sorrowful song and grant them "Despair".

The creature must be within 60 feet of you and must be able to hear you. You roll your Inspiration Die and the creature reduces their total roll by the number rolled on your die.

Memoria

At 3rd level, College of Dirges bards are trained in empathy and techniques to better know the subjects of their songs. You now have Proficiency in insight and may add your Charisma score to insight checks you make.

You also gain the speak with dead spell, it is always prepared for you, and you may cast it without any components or consuming a spell slot by expending one use of an Inspiration Die.

Requiem

Also at 3rd level, your mournful songs allow the mind and soul a moment of peace to properly heal. Whenever you cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you may expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to restore hit points to yourself or another creature within 15 feet of you. The hit points restored is equal to the level of the spell cast plus a roll from the Inspiration Die.

Lacrimosa

At 6th level, your sorrowful words and music are able to cause those who listen to openly weep. Whenever a creature fails a roll as a result of Despair, they must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell casting DC or become incapacitated until the end of their next turn, overcome with grief and sobbing.

Ad Mortem

At 14th level, an experienced bard of the College of Dirges can evoke such powerful emotions and sadness with their songs that those who hear it are left feeling broken. Whenever you grant Despair to a creature, you may grant the creature vulnerability to a damage type of your choice until the next time that creature takes damage.
