Despite their seemingly unassuming nature, these monks possess martial techniques and spiritual insights that make them formidable in combat and diplomacy alike.
They embody resilience, resourcefulness, and the ability to turn adversity into strength. Mastering unorthodox combat styles and spiritual techniques, they live by the principle that even in destitution, strength can emerge.
Their training includes ancient techniques passed down through clandestine traditions, blending unorthodox combat styles with profound inner strength. These monks often wield the iconic Dog Beating Staff, a deceptively simple weapon that symbolizes their unique approach to mastery.
Beggar's Resilience
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn to endure hardships with unwavering resolve. When your hit points are below half your maximum, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1) at the start of each of your turns. Additionally, you gain proficiency in the Survival skill and one artisan's tool of your choice.
Dog Beating Staff Mastery
At 3rd level, you master the techniques of the iconic Dog Beating Staff Technique which makes you gain proficiency of said weapon .Additionally, when you hit a creature with the staff, you can use a bonus action to attempt to trip it. The creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier) or fall prone.
Eighteen Dragon Palms
Beginning at 6th level, you can unleash a series of powerful palm strikes imbued with spiritual energy. As an action, you can strike up to three creatures within 15 feet of you. Each target must make a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier). On a failed save, the creature takes 2d10 + your Wisdom modifier bludgeoning damage and is pushed 10 feet away. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage and is not pushed
Nine Shadows Sutra
At 11th level, you learn advanced techniques to outwit and confuse your foes. As a bonus action, you create an illusory afterimage of yourself, causing the next attack roll made against you before the start of your next turn to have disadvantage. Additionally, you can cast silence or blur once per short rest without requiring components.
Solar Harmony Technique
Starting at 15th level, you can radiate an aura of vitality and strength. As an action, you create a radiant aura for 1 minute. At the start of each of your turns, you and all allies within 30 feet regain 10 hit points. While the aura lasts, you can also use your reaction to end one condition affecting yourself or an ally within 10 feet of you.
Master of the Beggar King’s Staff
At 17th level, you attain unparalleled mastery over the Dog Beating Staff. While wielding the staff, you can reroll one attack roll or saving throw each turn, choosing the higher result. Additionally, when you hit a creature with the staff, you can force it to make a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier). On a failed save, the creature drops one item of your choice that it is holding.
