Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Sword Saints are a rare sight, as few fighters choose to embark on such a rigorous and unforgiving journey. Spending many years intensely training their bodies and honing their minds to achieve the pinnacle of weapon master. Once a Sword Saint completes their training they seem to dance across the battlefield, blocking, parrying and striking all in a single motion, leaving their opponents disoriented or, more often then not, dead.

Level 3: Level 3: Battle Stances

Years of training have taught you blend fighting styles to suit any encounter. At the start of combat choose one of the following Battle Stances:

  • Moderation: The Moderation Stance is strong in all situations, but has no dramatic strengths. This Stance has the no effects.
  • Determination: The Determination Stance is a defensive style that is ideal when heavily outnumbered. This Stance has the following effects: When surrounded by more then 2 hostile NPC's add half you proficiency bonus to your AC.
  • Contention: The Contention Stance was specifically developed to combat single opponents. This Stance has the following effectsIf there is only 1 hostile creature within 5 feet, gain advantage on melee attack rolls.
  • Resilience: The Resilience Stance is a defensive style developed to counter ranged weapons. This Stance has the following effects: when a ranged attack roll is made against you. you are considered to be in half-cover.
  • Perseverance: The Perseverance Stance specifically developed to counter magic users. Using this Stance has the following effectsadd your Constitution modifier to all spell save throws. If the spell requires a Constitution save, double your Constitution modifier for the spell.
  • Ferocity: The ferocity Stance is a very dangerous Stance that is best used only when absolutely necessary. This stance gives the user a large offensive boost while sacrificing defence. This Stance has the following effects:  When making a melee attack add an additional die of damage, of the same damage type as the currently wielded weapon. This additional damage die is one size lower then the damage die of the weapon used it the melee attack, ie if a D8 is used the extra die is a D6. If the weapon used, uses multiple damage die, (ie Greatsword or Maul) add 2 damage die  that are one size lower. Only Slashing, Piercing and Bludgeoning damage gain additional dice. At the end of you turn, calculate total damage dealt, divide it by total number of attacks and divide by 4, then subtract the result from your characters AC.

While in combat, at the end of your turn, you may use your bonus action to change to a different stance.
