Monk
Base Class: Monk

Way of the Woven Self

Monks of the Woven Self are in tune with the ways of the Weave, and see Magic as just another aspect and expression of Ki. This occasionally leads them to clash with Wizards or other Spellcasters over this philosophical viewpoint. Thus, their monasteries tend to be located away from Wizard Colleges and Druid Circles. The masters encourage experimentation and creativity with their students in how they utilize their Ki, leading to a learning environment much laxer than in other Monastic traditions. Still, as all Monks, those who follow the Way of the Woven Self have great self discipline, but they are not as rigid in their traditions as those who follow other paths.

Level 3: Spellcasting

Cantrips
You learn one cantrip. It can be from any classes spell list, but must have a range of either Self or Touch, and it can not be from the Evocation or Conjuration schools of magic. You learn an additional cantrip when you reach your, 6th, 11th and 17th level in this class, all of which must also fulfill these requirements.

Spells Known of 1st Level and Higher
Your Monk spells are focused inward, relying on the flow of Ki within your body. Due to this, any spell you learn through this feature must have a range of Self, and can not be from the Evocation or Conjuration schools of magic. Apart from that, the spells can be from any classes spell lists, and are Monk spells for you.

At third Level, you learn two first level spells. Whenever you reach an odd numbered level in this class thereafter, you learn another spell. The level of the spell you learn must be less than or equal to one third of your monk level, rounded up. Additionally, whenever you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the Monk spells you know and replace it with another spell, which must fulfill the same requirements as the spells you learn upon reaching odd levels.

Casting Spells
To cast a spell you know with your Ki, you must expend a number of Ki points equal to twice the spells level.

Spellcasting Ability
Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your Monk Spells.
Your Spell save DC equals your Ki save DC.
Your Spell attack modifier equals your Wisdom modifier plus your Proficiency bonus.

Spellcasting Focus
You can use any monk weapon with which you are proficient as a spellcasting focus for your Monk spells.

Level 6: Purity of Magic

At 6th level, the control you have over your own Ki extends to any magic running through your body and soul, even when it did not originate from you. If you are under the effect of a spell, which was not cast by yourself, and which does not have an instantaneous duration, you gain the following options:

  • By concentrating, you can cause the effect the spell has on you to be extended past its normal duration, to a maximum of 24 hours. If you lose your concentration after the spell's natural duration has elapsed, its effect on you ends.
  • If the spell forces you to make one or multiple saving throws, you can spend a number of Ki points equal to the spell's level to automatically succeed on one of your saving throws against it. Alternatively, you can spend a number of Ki points equal to the spell's level once, and have advantage on all saving throws against it from that point forward, until the spell ends. You can only use one of these options per spell affecting you, not both.

Additionally, as a reaction, when you are targeted or affected by a spell from the Necromancy school of magic, you can spend a number of Ki points equal to the spell's level to dispel it, even if its duration is instantaneous. You can also dispel a necromancy cantrip which targets or affects you, and you do not need to spend any Ki to do so.

Level 11: Tactile Magic

At 11th level, you learn to affect the magic around you with a touch.

Whenever you finish a long rest, choose one spell of first or second level, which has a range of Touch. It can be from any school of magic, including Conjuration and Evocation. You learn this spell and retain your knowledge of it until the end of your next long rest. It counts as a Monk spell for you, but does not count against the number of Monk spells you know.

You can learn two of these spells after a long rest when you reach 13th level in monk, and three when you reach 16th level in monk.

Level 17: Arcane Touch

At 17th level, you become more familiar with the Ki flow in others, and learn to weave theirs and yours together with magic.

When you touch or hit a creature other than yourself with a melee attack, you can disrupt or encourage their Ki flow in relation to Magic. You push some of your own Ki into their body, which can cause different effects depending on your intent.

An unwilling creature can make a constitution saving throw against your Ki save DC. A willing creature, or an unwilling creature that fails the saving throw will be subjected to one of the following effects of your choice:

  • Disrupt Flow: You can spend Ki points to disrupt their Ki flow for a number of rounds equal to the points you spent. While their Ki is disrupted, whenever the affected creature attempts to cast a spell, they must use a spell slot one level higher than the spell's level, or the spell fails and their slot is wasted. Additionally, at the end of each of their turns, they must make a Concentration saving throw for each spell currently affecting them. If they fail, that spell is dispelled. A creature can choose to fail this saving throw.
  • Shape Flow: By expending a number of Ki points equal to twice the spell's level, you can cause the creature to cast a Monk spell you know on themselves, even if they do not know it or have it prepared. The creature uses your Spellcasting modifier for the casting. If the spell normally requires concentration, the creature does not have to concentrate on it to feel its effects. The spell instead lasts for its maximum duration, unless you or the affected creature dismiss it (no action required) or either of you fall unconscious.
  • Encourage Flow: If the creature you targeted already has the ability to cast spells, you can encourage your Ki to knit together with their magic. You can cause them to regain an expended Spell- or Pact-Slot by spending a number of Ki points equal to the slots level.
  • Siphon Flow: If the creature you targeted already has the ability to cast spells, and has a slot of 5th level or lower remaining, you can attempt to force them to expend it by spending 3 Ki points. The creature must make a saving throw with their spellcasting ability. If they fail, their highest level slot is expended and you regain a number of Ki points equal to twice the slot's level. You can not use this feature to increase the number of Ki points you have beyond your Monk level. If the Ki you regain from this ability would lead you to exceed your maximum, you are restored to your maximum instead.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Proficiency modifier, and regain all uses when you finish a long rest.
