Base Class: Fighter
As a cleric would prepare their daily allotment of spells, a Forge Knight uses it's soul forge to imbue existing items with powerful magic. After a long rest, a Forge Knight can summon it's soul forge and craft spells on to items of magical or exceptional quality. Once infused, the bearer of the object must touch the item in any way and speak a command word aloud to activate the spell. The spells cannot have a concentration component unless being used by the Forge Knight themselves, and only one concentration item can be used at a time, as per normal spellcasting conditions.
On occasion, and given the proper recipe, ingredients, and time, and forge knight can create magical items and also apply additional, permanent properties to existing magical items to increase their power.
Bonus Proficiencies
3rd-level Forge Knight feature
You gain proficiency with smith’s tools.
Spell Imbuement
3rd-level Forge Knight feature
You can use a soul forge to enhance gear. Instead of preparing spells after a long rest, you craft imbuements on to items of exceptional or magical nature. Consult the spell table for count and level of imbuements that can be crafted. These operate identical to cleric spells, with the following exceptions:
- Objects are imbued with the spells effects, spells are not simply cast as normal cleric spells would be
- Imbuements last until the forge knight completes another long rest and summons their forge again, or until the forge knight dies
- An object must be touched by the bearer in some way, and a command word must be spoken aloud to activate the spell
- Concentration spells can only be used by the forge knight, and operate as regular, concentration based spells
Forge Might
3rd-level Rune Knight feature
You have learned how to imbue yourself with the might of the forge. As a bonus action, you magically gain the following benefits, which last for 1 minute:
- If you are smaller than Large, you become Large, along with anything you are wearing. If you lack the room to become Large, your size doesn’t change.
- You have advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws.
- Once on each of your turns, one of your attacks with a weapon or an unarmed strike can deal an extra 1d6 damage to a target on a hit.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.
Forge Shield
7th-level Forge Knight feature
You learn to invoke your soul forge magic to protect your allies. When another creature you can see within 60 feet of you is hit by an attack roll, you can use your reaction to force the attacker to reroll the d20 and use the new roll.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Great Stature
10th-level Forge Knight feature
The magic of your forge permanently alters you. When you gain this feature, roll 3d4. You grow a number of inches in height equal to the roll.
Moreover, the extra damage you deal with your Forge’s Might feature increases to 1d8.
Master of the Forge
15th-level Forge Knight feature
After a short rest, you regain the use of one imbuement of each level. Your connection to the soul forge is so great, you can mentally imbue items from the previous day's forging no matter the distance between you and the item.
For example, if you've imbued a suit of armor with a cure spell and a sword with toll the dead after a long rest, after your party member has used it, you can re-imbue those items after a short rest, even if the target is now on another plane of existence.
Forge Juggernaut
18th-level Forge Knight feature
You learn how to amplify your forge-powered transformation. As a result, the extra damage you deal with the Giant’s Might feature increases to 1d10. Moreover, when you use that feature, your size can increase to Huge, and while you are that size, your reach increases by 5 feet. Additionally, your skin becomes as hard as an anvil, providing you with an additional +8 to your armor class and immunity to fire damage.
