Base Class: Monk
Those who follow the Way of the Graveyard Shift embody the spirit of cooks who have survived countless late-night brawls. They thrive in chaos, adapt to whatever is on hand, and endure punishment that would break lesser souls. To them, every fight is just another shift—handled with grim patience and frying-pan precision.
Level 3: Shift Hardened
You’ve been tempered by countless late-night shifts in chaos.
Iron Stomach, Iron Spirit. You gain proficiency in a Champion's Skill (your choice).
Hard to Break. You gain proficiency in Constitution saving throws.
Improvised Arsenal. You can treat any improvised weapon as a monk weapon. It uses your Martial Arts die for damage and you add your Dexterity modifier.
Level 3: Scattered, Smothered, and Covered
When a creature within 5 feet of you makes a weapon attack, you can use your reaction to scatter chaos across the battlefield.
The attacking creature makes its attack roll with disadvantage. In addition, the area in a 10-foot square centered on that creature is affected as though the grease spell had been cast there for a duration of 1 minute.
You can use this feature once per short rest.
Level 6: Short Order Slam
You’ve learned to turn chaos into defense.
When a ranged attack roll successfully targets you, you can use your reaction to make a Dexterity saving throw contested against the attack roll. On a success, you take no damage and choose one of the following:
Deflect. The attack misses you entirely.
Redirect. You may choose a creature within 10 feet of you. The original attack roll is applied against that creature instead.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Starting at 11th level, if you have no uses remaining, you may spend 1 ki point to use this feature again.
Level 6: Hot Plate
You’ve mastered the art of turning anything into a projectile.
As an action, you can spend 1 ki point to make a special ranged attack with an improvised weapon (such as a plate, mug, or skillet).
Range: 20/60 ft.
Damage: 2d6+DEX modifier .
The improvised weapon is considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks.
Level 11: Strong Brewed
The fight’s not over, and it isn’t time to clock out yet.
When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can make a Constitution saving throw (DC 10). On a success, you instead drop to 1 hit point.
Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.
Level 11: Always on the Clock
You’ve seen every kind of chaos imaginable, and nothing surprises you anymore.
Shift Never Ends. While you are not wearing armor or wielding a shield, you have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons.
Seen It All. You can’t be frightened or charmed while conscious.
Overtime. When you roll initiative and have no ki points, you regain 1 ki point.
Level 17: Master of the Graveyard
By this point, nothing fazes you. Every fight is just another shift.
-
Unflappable Veteran. When you are hit by an attack, you can use your reaction and spend 2 ki points to reduce the damage by an amount equal to 1d12 + your CON modifier + your monk level. If the damage is reduced to 0, you can immediately make an unarmed strike or improvised weapon attack against the attacker.
