Druid
Base Class: Druid

A distant land bore a lovely river strung with hues prettier than the most dazzling of butterflies. One day, a violent storm overtook this land; A violent downpour that lead to awakening of an ancient beast. This creature swept over the land until two siblings sealed it away at the cost of one of their lives. In the end, the remaining sister decided to break the rules of that were set by the gods above, she forced the dead soul of her sister to return to the mortal world in a forbidden . This action caused the land to be flooded by a literal river of death as souls were blocked from entering the plane beyond. The only solace was that the sister was returned to life in the form of the creature which took her very life. This event formed the first "Hand of Death."

A Hand of Shadow is someone who watches over the edge of the mortal coil for they have seen the brink itself, either themselves or via someone close passing. Whatever you shall do with the power of someone who has touched the edge of the mortal plane is your choice to bear, but the trauma that comes with this path doesn't come easy to the weary soul.

Ripples of the Nethersea

At 2nd level, you gain the ability to draw power from the Netherworld in the form of Newbud. Newbud is created by draining vitality from yourself or willing allies. As an action, you may drain hit points from up to four willing creatures (including yourself) within 30 feet. You gain an amount of Newbud equal to the total hit points drained. Newbud cannot be drained from creatures created by spells, features, or temporary magical effects, or by creatures with a Challenge Rating lower than 2.

You can hold a maximum amount of Newbud equal to twice your maximum hit points up to a maximum of 200, and all Newbud is lost at the end of a short or long rest.

While your Newbud is equal to or greater than half of your hit point maximum, you can use an action to expend all of it to summon the Netherworld creature bound to you. This being, referred to as Netherwing, appears in an unoccupied space within 30 feet of you. While Netherwing is active, you cannot gain Newbud.

Netherwing is friendly to you and your companions and obeys your commands. Its game statistics appear in the accompanying Netherwing stat block. Netherwing uses your proficiency bonus (PB) in several places. You can determine the cosmetic characteristics of Netherwing, such as its color, its scale texture, etc.; your choice has no effect on its game statistics except for its size which can be either Large or Huge (your choice).

In combat, Netherwing rolls its own initiative using your spellcasting modifier. It obeys your verbal commands (no action required). If you give no commands, it takes the Dodge action and moves to avoid danger.

Netherwing remains until it drops to 0 hit points, until 4 hours pass after its summoning, until you finish a short or long rest, or until you die. Anything it was wearing or carrying falls to the ground when it vanishes. Once you summon Netherwing, you can’t summon it again unless it perishes.

Wings Sweep the Ruins.  Once Netherwing reaches 0 hit points or dies, it explodes in a violent nova. Each creature within 15 feet of it must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC, taking 10 (3d6) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one

Actions

Multiattack. Netherwing can make a number of additional scorch attacks equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1) with each attack draining 10 hit points.

Scorch. Ranged Spell Attack: your spell attack modifier to hit, reach 30 ft., one target. Hit: 2d6 fire damage.

Claw. Natural Weapon Attack: your spell attack modifier to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1d8 + PB damage piercing.

Reactions

Shroud the Form. When a creature within 30 feet of Netherwing is hit by an attack, Netherwing can use its reaction to take the damage instead. Damage received this way is doubled.

Wraith's Caress

Starting at 3rd level, your power grows in the presence of Netherwing. While you are within 30 feet of Netherwing and you make an attack roll, you can choose to siphon vitality from yourself. When you do, you take damage equal to one roll of your Hit Dice, in turn the attack roll is made at advantage.

Netherworld's Embrace

Starting at 6th level, you obtain the ability to sacrifice portions of vitality to enhance your abilities. Immediately before or after you cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you can drain hit points from yourself equal to twice the spell’s level. Doing so allows you to upcast the spell by one spell level, or if Netherwing is within 30 feet of you, you can restore its hit points equal to the hit points you spent.

Wings of Bloom

When you reach 10th level, Netherwing begins to grow more in power depending on the Newbud spent.

If the Newbud spent to summon Netherwing is greater than 120, "Wings Sweeps the Ruins" deals an additional 2d6 necrotic damage and its range increases by an additional 15 feet. In addition, creatures of your choice in the range of the blast take no damage from the eruption, and instead regain hit points equal your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1).

Additionally, if it is greater than 80, Netherwing may attack an additional Scorch attack without draining its hit points.

Death's Grasp

When you reach 14th level, your bond with the Netherworld stabilizes into a persistent manifestation. Once per day, you can spend 1 action and a use of Wild shape to summon a permanent form of Netherwing, as if you had spent 60 Newbud to summon it.
This version of Netherwing instead remains until it drops to 0 hit points or until you summon a different Netherwing, at which point it vanishes.
Finally, this form of Netherwing cannot benefit from features that scale based on additional Newbud spent.
