Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Cascade Fighters study the rhythm of combat itself, treating motion, timing, and momentum as living elements to be read and redirected. Their techniques focus on continuous flow—strike chaining, weapon transitions, reactive deflections, and battlefield repositioning that feels more like dance than brawl. The most accomplished Cascade practitioners develop an uncanny intuition for conflict, sensing tempo shifts before blades even meet, and turning each exchange into a seamless ebb and flow of motion that overwhelms any rigid style.

Level 3: Flowing Strikes

Starting at 3rd level, you leverage momentum to overwhelm you foes.

  • Momentum Charges. When you hit a creature with a weapon attack on your turn, you gain 1 Momentum Charge (max 3). You lose all charges at the end of your turn if you fail to hit with at least one attack that turn.

  • Overflow Strike. While at 3 charges, you automatically gain one additional weapon attack as part of the same Attack action that grants the 3rd charge. This automatically expends all charges.

    • This extra swing does not consume bonus actions. Additionally, this attack does not generate extra charges itself.

Your discipline also allows for instantaneous adaption between arms.

  • You may draw or stow melee weapons as part of making a weapon attack, rather than requiring an object interaction.

    • There is no limit to how many times you swap during a turn, provided each swap occurs as part of making or finishing a melee weapon attack.

    • This swap can occur on your extra attack from Overflow Strike.

Level 7: Counterflow

Starting at 7th level, through precise movements, you can redirect the momentum of enemy attacks for your benefit.

Counterflow - Reaction. When a creature hits you with a weapon attack, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage taken by an amount equal to 1d4 + your Fighter Level.

You have 1 + CON Modifier + Proficiency Bonus uses per long rest.

Counterflow - Attack. The first time you hit a creature with a weapon attack before the end of your next turn after using Counterflow - Reaction, that attack deals an additional 1d4 + half your Fighter Level (rounded down) bonus damage of the same type on the weapon.

Dice value scales based on levels 11 (2d4), 15 (3d4) and 19 (4d4).

Level 10: Counterflow - Reaction (Mastery)

Starting at 10th level, you gain mastery using Counterflow.

Enhanced Reaction. You can now use Counterflow - Reaction in the following circumstances:

  • Hit by a melee attack
  • Hit by a ranged attack
  • Hit by a spell attack
  • Failing a saving throw from a spell or effect that deals damage.

Ground Bracing. When you use Counterflow - Reaction, become immune to forced movement, grappled, paralysis, prone, restrained, and stunned conditions from the triggering attack or spell. Forced movement and conditions can be willingly applied to you if you choose so.

Retaliatory Motion. When you reduce damage with Counterflow - Reaction, you may immediately move up to 15 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.

  • This movement is taken immediately after the triggering attack resolves.
  • It does not require an action, bonus action, or remaining movement from your turn.

Level 15: Weapon Transcendence

Starting at 15th level, your skills in using weapons enhances to a transcendent state. You gain the ability to swap between ranged weapons with the same fluidity as melee ones and your strikes become more lethal.

Adaptive Arsenal. You can now freely draw, stow, or swap to ranged weapons under the same rules as your existing weapon-swap feature.
This requires no action, no object interaction, and can occur any time you make a weapon attack, melee or ranged.

Overflow Strike (Mastery). Your Overflow Strike now functions with both melee and ranged weapon attacks. When you make an Overflow Strike, it is treated as a precision hit, striking a vital point. Your Overflow Strikes now deal additional Force Damage equal to: 1d4 + Your Fighter Level * 0.6 (Rounded Down).

Level 18: Torrential Currents

Starting at 18th level, you have mastered the art of Counterflow and Overflow fully. In addition, your weapon swapping combat style evolves.

Counterflow - Attack (Mastery). Any attack made that benefits from Counterflow - Attack is made with advantage

Overflow Strike (Superb). The attack of Overflow Strike is always made with advantage.

Superb Flow. Attacks made with a weapon type different than the previous deal an additional 3 bonus Force damage.

  • An example of a different weapon type is switching from a Longsword to a Warhammer to a Longbow. Does not work when switching from one Longsword to another.
