Base Class: Fighter
You have spent your life mastering the art of using water to enhance your combat. You've trained along the beach and have mastered the ability to shape, control, and become like water.
Born to Swim
Your training in and along the sea. You gain a swim speed of 30ft and do not face difficult terrain when walking through shallows bodies of water like marshes.
Basic Water Bending
You have begun to learn how to shape water
Phase like Water
As a defensive maneuver, you have learned to turn yourself into water temporarily to avoid an attack. When an attack is made against you, before the total to hit has been decided, you can choose to avoid the attack. Can be used 1 + your wisdom modifier times between long rests.
Water Breathing
You can breathe under water.
Become Water
You can activate this ability and gain the ability to turn into water. The ability lasts for an hour, and while it is active you can spend a bonus action to turn into water for their turn.
While you're in water form, you are immune to all damage* (Except for lightning, which you are vulnerable to), can fit through the thinnest of cracks, can take any shape (but still look like water), can move a 50 ft on land, 100 ft while in water, can climb 25 ft up vertical walls, and cannot speak.
Once your turn ends, you return to your normal form.
Once the hour is up, you can't use the ability again until a long rest.
*Cold damage will not hurt you, but it will reduce your speed to 0 for the turn.
Advanced Water Bending
You have mastered the art of shaping and creating water.
Body Boil
You have mastered the power of water control and can remotely now reach inside the body of a creature and cause their body liquid to boil.
Water Casting
You can cast your water bending spells while in water form.

Posted Jan 23, 2022Interesting idea but this can be improved upon.
First, always add, at what level what subclass feature is gained.
Basic Water Bending: Do you mean something like "At 3rd level, you gain the ability to cast the spell Shape Water"?
Phase Like Water: Completely avoiding an attack as you wish is very strong. Perhaps changing it to "You impose disadvantage to that attack and against it, you have resistance to poison damage, acid damage and bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical attacks" womewhat similar to a Water Elemental could work.
Become Water: Damage immunity for an hour is broken. Innate lightning isn't too common of a damage type, so you'll rarely have have a downside to this. And even with an enemy dealing lightning damage, that'll still be better to be hit by in many cases compared to getting hit 3 times by other attacks.
Advanced Water Bending: What does that do in terms of game rules?
Body Boil: What does that do in terms of game rules?
Water Casting: To my understanding, this subclass only grants Shape Water as a water spell. Being able to cast this in water form should be a given imo and not require a late game subclass feature.
